Structural muscle injuries are characterized by acute and localized onset of pain. Abdominal muscle injuries are an insidious pathology in overhead athletes. However, only a few cases are reported in literature related to volleyball players, where clinical presentation may not have reflected the severity of the lesion.

This article shows how energy transitions are advanced by energy elites – the leaders and experts of energy companies. While the dominant literature suggests that elites resist societal changes, this research highlights that energy elites are instrumental in the promotion of energy transitions. The findings in this article are based on 18 months of ethnographic fieldwork in energy companies based in Oslo, Norway, and analysed using anthropological perspectives.

Findings show that black coaches occupied only 3.41% of the opportunities offered by elite clubs. About the interviewees, their responses contrast with the perceptions that black athletes and coaches have about racism and that we find in the reviewed literature. Despite the low representativeness and obstacles to black coaches in Brazilian football, respondents emphasized that affirmative action is unnecessary.

Overuse injuries (OI) are common in elite athletics. Previous studies have had athletes self-report injuries rather than having a medical professional provide a clear diagnosis. This might be a major reason for the inconsistencies in reported incident proportions of OI in elite athletics, in addition to the varying definitions of OI in current literature.

Although athletic endeavours are associated with a high amount of physical stress and injury, the prevalence of pain is underreported in the sports medicine literature with only a few studies reporting pain on collegiate athletes or exploring sex difference of pain.

As an important part of popular culture, mass literature has quickly become a global phenomenon and has a wide range of influences. Deeply understanding popular literature as well as seeing the difference between it and elite literature about conditions for forming, the team of writers, PR form, readers… is a way to get reasonable solutions for the strong and harmonious development of Vietnamese literature in the context of globalization and international integration.

The topic ‘elite’ may be dealt with either in a few lines, or in many pages. There is no half way. In fact, it encompasses issues which are crucial to the social sciences, such as the relation between the distribution of wealth, prestige and power; the exercise of power and the composition of the group that holds it. The list is extensive. Here, however, we intend to tackle the problem of elites from a particular perspective: that of the relationship between elite and gender – a relationship that has so far been ignored in the entire body of literature dealing with the issue of elites.
