We report here the improvement of a procedure to obtain global models, able to describe the retention behaviour of several sample components simultaneously. The reported global models include parameters that account for the general effects of column and solvent on retention and are common for all components, whereas other parameters are specific of each sample component.

2-Acetylpyridine-4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazone (APPT) ligand was incorporated onto Amberlite XAD-2 resin through an azo spacer and characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, TGA, and SEM analysis. The synthesized resin was used for the preconcentration of Pb(II), Zn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Cd(II) ions. The sorbed metal ions were eluted with 10 mL of 2.0 mol L−1 HCl and determined by microsample injection coupled flame atomic spectrometry (MIS-FAAS).

A validated liquid chromatography method employing a fluorescence detector for the determination of ochratoxin A (OTA) was developed with double internal standard and it was applied to ten different poultry feeds. The analysis was performed in an octadecyl silane column using a solvent system [ACN:water:formic acid (50:50:1.25, v/v/v)] by isocratic elution. The flow rate and injection volume were 1 mL min−1 and 12 µL, respectively.

A novel preconcentration method for Pb and Zn ions using a column packed with Schiff base modified silica gel is described. The method was based on the sorption of analytes on N,N’-bis(4-methoxysalicylidene)-1,3-propanediamine modified silica gel and elution with HNO3 prior to flame atomic absorption analysis. The parameters pH, flow rate, sample volume, eluent volume, and concentration were optimized using a central composite design.

The crude extract was obtained by the maceration method of dried power of Parmotrema praesorediosum lichen in methanol. This extract was then separated by the solid-phase extraction and eluted with petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone, and methanol in turn to give the corresponding extracts. Two compounds were isolated from chloroform extract by silica gel column chromatography.

A fast and easy method was validated for simultaneous determination of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride monohydrate (CP), levofloxacin hemihydrate (LV), and N-acetylcysteine (NAC) in samples. The analysis was performed on a C18 column (250 × 4.6mm, 5µm) (Inertsil ODS-3V) using an isocratic elution method with a mobile phase composed of 25mM KH2PO4 (pH 3.0) and methanol (72:28, v/v) at a flow rate of 1mL/min. UV detection was performed at 214nm for NAC and 293nm for CP and LV.

Effect of lemongrass extract and oil on the bioactivity (antioxidant and antimicrobial property) and citral content of paneer was evaluated in this study. Lemongrass was incorporated in the following three ways: i) cut and crushed leaves were added to milk @ 0, 2, 4 and 6% (w/v) or to coagulant solution @ 20% (w/v) and extracted by heat treatment; ii) cut leaves were heat extracted in potable water followed by heat concentration, and chilling. The chilled water was used for soaking paneer blocks; iii) Lemongrass oil added to milk at 0, 0.015, 0.02 and 0.025% levels.

A Reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatographic method (RP-HPLC) for the simultaneous determination of tetracycline, Oxytetracycline and chlortetracycline residues in milk has been developed. The determination of these antimicrobials was carried out using HPLC UV-VIS with a C8 hybrid column elution with a mobile phase composed of solvent A (water: formic acid as 1000:1 v/v) and solvent B (water: acetonitrile: formic acid as 100:900:1). Sample preparation involved protein precipitation followed by solid-phase extraction using a C18 cartridge.

A new approach has been developed for the preparation of mixed-mode stationary phases to separate proteins. The pore surface of monolithic poly(glycidyl methacrylate-co-ethylene dimethacrylate) capillary columns was functionalized with thiols and coated with gold nanoparticles. The final mixed mode surface chemistry was formed by attaching, in a single step, alkanethiols, mercaptoalkanoic acids, and their mixtures on the free surface of attached gold nanoparticles. Use of these mixtures allowed fine tuning of the hydrophobic/hydrophilic balance.

The main purpose of this study was to analyze the cytotoxic activity of an extract obtained from Centaurea fenzlii Reichardt, and the fractions eluted from this extract, in breast cancer cells. After isolation and structural analysis of the fractions were conducted, a meaningful cytotoxic effect was indicated.

A new automated procedure for preconcentration and analysis of anionic surfactants in water using solid-phase extraction (SPE) in a flow injection (Fl) system together with an UV-vis detection is reported in this paper. The method involves extraction of blue coloured ion-pair complex of anionic surfactants and methylene blue into solid phase and their elution from the SPE column with organic solvent (chloroform stabilised with methanol) and subsequent measurement in an UV-vis flow cell at 650 nm. The system is well optimised before to apply for analysis of real samples.

The bleached pulps were screened prior to sheet preparation. All analyses were performed according to ISO and SCAN standards, except for the carbohydrate analysis of straw which was done by high-performance anion-exchange chromatography (HPAEC). The ashing was conducted at 550°C for 12 h. The mechanically refined pulp after hot water treatment was fractioned with a Bauer McNett apparatus. The paper technical properties were determined from the combined 100 and 200 mesh fractions.
