  • The study aimed to determine factors affecting the decisions of individuals to deposit in their accounts at the VietinBank branch in An Giang Province. In this study, a questionnaire was prepared and used to investigate 250 individuals who have or have not done transactions at the An Giang branch of VietinBank. The estimated results derived from the Probit model showed that the deposit decision is largely governed by the deposit interest rate, quality of customer services, business location, promotion, and individual’s level of education, age and income.

  • This paper empirically examines Fintech’s impact on bank profitability, employing various estimation methods, including Pooled Ordinary Least Squares (OLS), Random Effect Model (REM), and Fixed Effect Model (FEM), along with tests for multicollinearity and heteroscedasticity. Data from seventeen publicly listed commercial banks in Vietnam from 2017 to 2021 are analyzed. Findings indicate that specific Fintech indicators, such as technology application adoption and online banking services, positively influence commercial bank profitability.

  • Reconstructing phylogenetic trees from protein sequences normally requires empirical amino acid substitution models to calculate the likelihood of trees or genetic distances between species. The tree of life is classified into three domains of Eukaryotes, Archaea, and Bacteria. The amino acid substitution models have been intensively studied for decades, but few are related to Bacteria. Rooting bacterial trees remains a challenging problem in the phylogenetic analysis due to the long branch separating Bacteria and other domains.

  • The greatest impact on the cadastral value of land plots is the distance to the capital of the Russian Federation and the land area. The influence of the coefficient of the length of the land plot on its cadastral value in all built specifications was not confirmed. The quality of the results was tested using Fisher test, student test, regression equation specification error test (RESET), testing of regression residues on heteroskedasticity and autocorrelation (White test, Breusch-Pagan test).

  • Trade and world economic integration are seen as the impetus for accelerating the well-beings of the domestic Vietnamese communities and international community in the region. However, an understanding of the link between trade and economic integration from the perspective of Vietnam is missing. Empirical studies on Vietnamese trade are in lack to address these determinants (see, Le, 1996; Nguyen, 2010). This thesis identifies the key factors that have driven the impressive growth of Vietnamese exports during the world economic integration process (1986-2010).

  • This study analyzes the literature review of the techniques for estimating Height Equivalent Theoretical Plate (HETP) values for various packing structure models, ranging from theoretical to semi-empirical to shortcut methods. Packing structures of various meshes and shapes were studied on the purification of benzaldehyde from the mixture of benzaldehyde and cinnamaldehyde.

  • We introduce a Bayesian semi-supervised method for estimating cell counts from DNA methylation by leveraging an easily obtainable prior knowledge on the cell-type composition distribution of the studied tissue. We show mathematically and empirically that alternative methods which attempt to infer cell counts without methylation reference only capture linear combinations of cell counts rather than provide one component per cell type.

  • The study is an attempt to examine empirically the effects of oil price shock on current account imbalances. The analysis is carried out on the crosscountry panel of 160 countries that are divided into three different groups base on their level of oil imports. The relationship between the oil price shock and current account imbalances is rigorously assessed using two different approaches. Firstly, the seemingly unrelated regression models are used to estimate the effects of oil price shock on current account imbalances with transmission channels namely trade, valuation, and wealth.

  • This paper investigates several key challenges faced by oil-rich countries regarding their economic growth and development. First, it discusses how to determine currency overvaluation for these countries (if any). To determine the overvaluation, the real exchange rate (RER) is calculated and the Balassa–Samuelson effect is estimated via a regression model. Next, the study presents an empirical model for assessing the impact of oil rent on economic growth in the context of currency overvaluation and the institutional quality in every country.

  • Forecasting the hourly electricity spot price plays a crucial role for agents involved in energy day-ahead markets. However, traditional time series processes used for this issue model each hour separately not taking into account the intraday energy market microstructure information. In this paper, we appeal to a Functional Data Analysis (FDA) viewpoint that allows modeling and forecasting the intraday electricity spot price of the Colombian Electricity Market.

  • The main purpose of this study is to determine whether renewable energy consumption has a positive effect on economic growth for selected developing countries (Brazil, India, Indonesia, China, Chile, Mexico, South Africa and Turkey). Fossil energy consumption and CO2 emissions variables are also included in the model established for this purpose. GMM estimator, one of the dynamic panel data methods, was used for empirical analysis of the relationship between these variables.

  • The main objective of this study is to empirically test whether there exist short run and long run causality between, residential electricity consumption (REC), industrial electricity consumption (IEC) and economic growth in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Time series data for this study spans from 1990 to 2019. The study adopts granger causality and co. Integration analysis to estimate a vector error correction model (VECM). Results from error correction model show that there exist long run co. integration relationship between targeted variables.

  • In the recent past, exchange rate volatility has become a matter of concern for developing and emerging economies partly due to monetary policy actions of advanced economies and partly due to domestic policy actions. This study examines the effects of exchange rate volatility on exports, using a panel gravity model covering the period 1997 to 2019, to estimate pooled, fixed and random effects models for a panel of 19 COMESA member countries.
