  • Now a day’s world population is facing several health problems caused by bacteria, virus, fungus, protozoan and other micro-organisms which could be due to drug resistant or parasitism and generates an alarming situation to world population for their survival. The requirement for novel and beneficial compounds like antibiotics, chemotherapeutic agents and agrochemicals to offer assistance in several aspects of the human life is ever increasing that are very effective and having negligible or very low toxicity to the environment.

  • Endophytes are microbes that live within plants such as maize (corn, Zea mays L.) without causing disease. It is generally assumed that most endophytes originate from soil. If this is true, then as humans collected, domesticated, bred and migrated maize globally from its native Mexico, they moved the species away from its native population of endophyte donors.

  • Endophytic bacteria exhibit a complex web of interactions with host plants and have been extensively studied over the last several years as prolific sources of new bioactive natural products. The present study was conducted for isolation of endophytic bacterial population of Ocimum sanctum and Aloe vera and their evaluation for enzymatic activity and plant growth promotion. Morphological characteristics of the bacterial endophytes confirmed that all the bacterial isolates were either gram positive or gram negative rods and cocci.

  • Tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum L.), is a most common vegetable crop worldwide and is well studied in genetics, genomics, breeding and being an excellent model for the basic and applied research related to fruit quality, stress tolerance and other physiologic traits. In the present study, a microbial aspect of tomato, in terms of the endophytic bacterial population present in the plant had been studied.

  • Maize, a crop cultivated worldwide, was investigated for colonization endophytic bacteria at different growth stage in different plant parts. Such bacterial interactions have high potential to enhance maize growth and development by means of plant growth promoting activities. 82 morphologically different endophytic bacterial isolates were isolated from hybrid maize variety, Pusa Extra Early Hybrid Maize (PEEHM-5) from root, stem and leaf tissues on different nutrient media at vegetative, flowering and maturity stages of growth.

  • Eight endophytic Pseudomonas sp. isolates viz., EB1 to EB8 and ten endophytic Bacillus sp. isolates viz., EB9 to EB18 and one endophytic Methylobacterium sp. isolate EB19 were tested their plant growth promotion activity and biocontrol potential against root knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita in tomato. On seed bacterization with nineteen endophytic bacterial isolates, eight isolates viz.
