  • This paper analyzes a monthly global gridded sea-surface wind dataset from Jan 1991 to Dec 2020, sourced from the International Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (ICOADS). The goal is construct schematic maps depicting the monthly average distributions of sea-surface wind speeds and directions in the East Vietnam Sea.

  • A Lagrangian rapid-response model for simulating the transport of radionuclides in the Arabian (or Persian) Gulf is described. The model is based on a tide model including five constituents, which was solved in advance, and baroclinic circulation was obtained from HYCOM operational ocean model.

  • The mangrove plant Kandelia candel is a type of woody halophyte that grows in tropical and subtropical ocean intertidal zones and exhibits a high salt tolerance. In this study, 61,970 unigenes were obtained from the roots of 60-day-old K. candel seedlings treated with 0 (control), 200, 400, and 600 mM NaCl for 3 days with an N50 of 1510 bp. Moreover, 454, 311, and 2663 genes were differentially expressed under 200, 400, and 600 mM NaCl treatments, respectively.

  • The expanding perimeter of human knowledge has brought pioneering scientists in many frontier areas face to face with events that cannot be easily explained in terms of present scientific concepts of reality. Psychic abilities, UFOs, strange energy effects from human-made devices—these are some of the unusual phenomena that have puzzled and intrigued those explorer-scientists. But upon reporting their observations from the borderland territories, the all-too-frequent reaction by other scientists has been to disregard these unusual...

  • Renewable Energy is energy generated from natural resources - such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat - which are naturally replenished. In 2008, about 18% of global final energy consumption came from renewables, with 13% coming from traditional biomass, such as wood burning. Hydroelectricity was the next largest renewable source, providing 3% (15% of global electricity generation), followed by solar hot water/heating, which contributed with 1.3%. Modern technologies, such as geothermal energy, wind power, solar power, and ocean energy together provided some 0.

  • Aquatic scientists have always been intrigued with concepts of scale. This interest perhaps stems from the nature of ßuid dynamics in oceans and lakes — energy cascades from spatial scales of kilometers down to viscous scales at centimeters or less. Turbulent processes affect not only an organism’s perception of, and response to, the physical environment, but also the interaction between species, both within and across trophic levels.
