Negative energy balance (NEB) is an imbalance between energy intake and energy requirements for lactation and body maintenance affecting high-yielding dairy cows and is of considerable economic importance due to its negative impact on fertility and health in dairy herds. It is anticipated that the cow hypothalamus experiences extensive biochemical changes during the early post partum period in an effort to re-establish metabolic homeostasis. However, there is variation in the tolerance to NEB between individual cows.

To evaluate the effects of high-fat diet (HFD) consumption on locomotion, exploration, and object recognition in rats. Subjects and methods: 62 white male rats (8 - 9 weeks old) were caged individually and randomly divided into two groups by the diets of high-fat and standard food (control group) ones for 7 consecutive weeks.

WATER PLAYS A CRUCIAL ROLE in the life of the plant. For every gram of organic matter made by the plant, approximately 500 g of water is absorbed by the roots, transported through the plant body and lost to the atmosphere. Even slight imbalances in this flow of water can cause water deficits and severe malfunctioning of many cellular processes. Thus, every plant must delicately balance its uptake and loss of water. This balancing is a serious challenge for land plants. To carry on photosynthesis, they need to draw carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, but doing so exposes them to...

Freshwater sources and oceans have an amazing natural ability to break down some waste materials, but not in the quantities discarded by today' s society. The overload that results eventually puts the ecosystem out of balance. Sometimes nature itself can create these imbalances. But most often our waterways are being polluted by municipal, agricultural and industrial wastes, including many toxic synthetic chemicals which cannot be broken down at all by natural processes.

Good nutrition is vital to good health and is absolutely essential for the healthy growth and development of children and adolescents. Major causes of morbidity and mortality in the United States are related to poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle. Specific diseases and conditions linked to poor diet include cardiovascular disease, hyper tension, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes, overweight and obesity, osteoporosis, constipation, diverticular disease, iron deficiency anemia, oral disease, malnutrition, and some cancers.

This event is most important for the Social Network of Latin America and the Caribbean. The network has allowed La Red Social to cooperate among various countries in the struggle against poverty. It recently also completed an important study of the potentials and the limitations of social funds. Social funds, created as instruments of the social policy pursued by each country, were designed to mobilize resources rapidly for the financing of social action programs.

AT is recognized as the largest energy store of free fatty acids (FFA) and triglycerides (TG), and more recently as an endocrine organ that regulates the secretion of adipokines, which coordinate energy metabolism, insulin sensitivity and feeding behavior, not only in adults but also in pediatric populations. Imbalance between visceral and subcutaneous AT is capable of altering its physiology.

Lifestyle Management Obesity care involves attention to three essential elements of lifestyle: dietary habits, physical activity, and behavior modification. Because obesity is fundamentally a disease of energy imbalance, all patients must learn how and when energy is consumed (diet), how and when energy is expended (physical activity), and how to incorporate this information into their daily life (behavior therapy). Lifestyle management has been shown to result in a modest (typically 3– 5 kg) weight loss compared to no treatment or usual care.
