The article presents the theoretical framework for the infrastructure formation in the economic systems specializing in mineral raw materials, by using supply chain strategy. It is determined by objective processes of economic development and sectoral peculiarities, in the form of synthesis of reproduction, structural-functional and systemic approaches in supply chain management. It allows developing adequate mechanisms aimed at maintaining and further developing infrastructure of territorial economic systems (TES).

This research studies the problem of the peculiarities of the social and economic development of the Arctic Region. The purpose of this research was to develop a strategic approach to the social and economic management of the Arctic Regions. The authors introduced the objective approach towards the long-term development of a compound macroregion and presented recommendations regarding the long-term regional planning according to its special characteristics.

In this paper, the authors considered theoretical approaches to family farming as a special form of social-and-economic organization, which is the most reliable mechanism for mass recruitment of rural population into the economy and optimization of material and information flows, cooperative ties of value creating participants in order to satisfy consumers in comparison with large agricultural holdings. The US experience indicates the possibility of harmonious combination of developed industry and commodity family farms in economic complexes.

This article explores the determinants of interregional labour migration in southern Russian regions. Using a basic gravity model with very specialized variables (working-age population, the nearest distance between the administrative regional centres) we partially confirmed hypotheses concerning the presence of a gravitational link between separate regions in southern Russia.

The study explores strategies that the Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA) implemented for the current companies to successfully sustain their position in the global market. Internal and external integration for these companies are the main focused criterion. A model to evaluate the opportunity for the internal and the external integrations in a SEZ is the main contribution of this paper, this model can be used by companies as one criterion of its criteria to select where it can locate its branched.

The result of this research shows that the founded and developed cities in Safavid Iran, specially expanded on Silk Road in Shah Abbas I’s reign (996-1083H.), played the role of producer, distributer and exporter in North, Center and South of Iran. According to this produce and exchange system, the functional cities in Safavid era are divided in to three types: producer of raw materials, intermediary and processing and finally exporter (port) cities.

Long-term challenges remain: continuing with structural reforms, maintaining rapid and steady economic growth and fiscal discipline, boosting employment, reining in the informal economy, and making progress with respect to EU accession. While the latter is expected to be a long and complicated process, it will remain a driving force for Turkey’s reform efforts. In addition, accelerating the reform process will be vital for a positive outlook. Recent political turmoil and upcoming local elections in 2009 could become a distraction for further reforms.
