Enhanced green fluorescence protein
-
Enhanced Green Fluorescent Protein (eGFP) shows much stronger fluorescence than its ancestor, Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP), thus has been widely applied as a reporter for biomedical research. In this study, we reported the expression of a synthetic codon optimized gene encoding eGFP in Escherichia coli (E. coli).

To characterize the cellular stress by n-alkanols with different alkyl chain lengths in Escherichia coli, we investigated how n-alkanols damage cell envelope permeability and whether they enhance the promoter activity of the envelope stress response regulator, σE , by using variants of green fluorescent protein (GFP)

The aminated-silica nanoparticles with a positive zeta potential interact with GFP having a negative zeta potential via ionic force. GFP immobilized by the aminated silica nanoparticles greatly enhances (ca. 2 times) the bioluminescence intensity compared to free GFP. The lipase/aminated-silica nanoparticles catalyzed the transesterification reaction of 1-hexanol and ethyl acetate.

The characteristics of synthesized nanoparticles depend on the source of the plant extracts because of different combinations and concentrations of organic reducing agents present in the extracts (Mukunthan and Balaji, 2012).

The purpose of this study was to provide an insight into the biological effects of knockdown Yes-associated protein (YAP) on the proliferation and apoptosis of human periodontal ligament stem cells (h-PDLSCs). Methods: Immunofluorescence and Western blot were used to evaluate Hippo-YAP signaling expression level. Enhanced green fluorescence protein lentiviral vector was constructed to down-regulate YAP in h-PDLSCs.

TRPM4b is a Ca 2+ -activated, voltage-dependent monovalent cation chan-nel that has been shown to act as a negative regulator of Ca 2+ entry and to be involved in the generation of oscillations of Ca 2+ influx in Jurkat T-lymphocytes. Transient overexpression of TRPM4b as an enhanced green fluorescence fusion protein in human embryonic kidney (HEK) cells resulted in its localization in the plasma membrane, as demonstrated by confocal fluorescence microscopy.

Minor structural proteins of mouse polyomavirus (MPyV) are essential for virus infection. To study their properties and possible contributions to cell death induction, fusion variants of these proteins, created by linking enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) to their C- or N-termini, were prepared and tested in the absence of other MPyV gene products, namely the tumor antigens and the major capsid protein, VP1.

TheOryza sativalectin, abbreviated Orysata, is a mannose-specific, jacalin-related lectin expressed in rice plants after exposure to certain stress condi-tions. Expression of a fusion construct containing the rice lectin sequence linked to enhanced green fluorescent protein in Bright Yellow 2 tobacco cells revealed that Orysata is located in the nucleus and the cytoplasm of the plant cell, indicating that it belongs to the class of nucleocytoplasmic jacalin-related lectins.
