Bacterial whole-genome sequencing (WGS) has the potential to identify reservoirs of multidrugresistant organisms and transmission of these pathogens across healthcare networks. This study aimed to isolate and identify different Enterococcus spp. from diverse sources including dromedary raw milk, rhizospheric soil and natural saline water samples and to determine their antimicrobial activities and safety aspects. From these sources, distinct strains of E. faecium, E. durans, E. hirae, and E. gallinarum species were detected.

The V32C bacteriocin derivative which exhibited the strongest bioactivity enhancement was found to exhibit a reduction of the molecular surface hydrophobicity and isoelectric point. These changes may have contributed in the enhancement of its bioactivity. The identification of these critical mutations is highly valuable as basis for future studies on the rational design of bioengineered bacteriocins with enhanced bioactivity.

Ba chủng vi khuẩn RL1T, RL1V, RL2 được phân lập nội sinh từ rễ lúa thu được ở tỉnh Long An, 1 chủng RL được phân lập từ bề mặt rễ lúa Cà Mau. Cả 4 chủng vi khuẩn phân lập RL1T, RL1V, RL2, RL đều có khả năng sinh acid, sinh IAA, tạo màng biofilm và ức chế nấm bệnh đạo ôn Pyricularia oryzae trong điều kiện nồng độ muối từ 0-3%. Hai chủng có hoạt tính mạnh nhất RL và RL1T được định danh là Enterococcus faecium bằng phương pháp giải trình tự gene 16S rRNA và so sánh với các trình tự của Genbank.

The Gram-positive bacterium Enterococcus faecium is a commensal of the human gastrointestinal tract and a frequent cause of bloodstream infections in hospitalized patients. The mechanisms by which E. faecium can survive and grow in blood during an infection have not yet been characterized. Here, we identify genes that contribute to growth of E. faecium in human serum through transcriptome profiling (RNA-seq) and a highthroughput transposon mutant library sequencing approach (Tn-seq).

In the Netherlands, core-genome MLST (cgMLST) based on short-read sequencing is often used for molecular typing. Long-read sequencing is more rapid and provides useful information about the genome’s structural composition but lacks the precision required for SNP-based typing and cgMLST.

Comparative genomics of E. faecium can decipher the genomic differences responsible for probiotic, pathogenic and non-pathogenic properties. This trait is thought to contribute to the ability of E. faecium to spread among patients in hospitals. There is currently a lack of data on the mechanisms that are responsible for the ability of E. faecium to survive in the absence of nutrients.

LAB strain Enterococcus faecium isolated from infant feces was found to show desirable probiotic capabilities. The strain was designated as Enterococcus faecium MBTU-P1F1 and gene accession number was obtained as KF745071. The strain did not have plasmid, it was susceptible to Vancomycin and the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration of Ampicillin towards it was examined.

The present study was conducted to evaluate antimicrobial and cytotoxicactivity of Sisymbrium irio L extract against MDRB (Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecium, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumanni, Enterobacter cloacae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and Candida albicans. Antibiotic sensitivity profile was performed using disc diffusion method. Cytotoxicity was measured against African Green Monkey Kidney (VERO) cell line using the colorimetric MTT assay.

The present study was conducted on various clinical samples, in the Department of Microbiology, S.N medical college, Agra from February 2018 to July 2018. 72 Enterococcus isolates were identified. Maximum samples from which Enterococcus spp. was isolated is urine i.e. 39 (54.17%), followed by pus and blood i.e. 22 (30.55%) and 5 (6.94%) respectively. Maximum isolate is E. faecalis i.e. 62 (86.11%) followed by E.faecium i.e. 10 (13.89%). On Antimicrobial Susceptibility testing, Ampicillin, Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin, Tetracycline and Doxycycline show 70.83%, 38.88%, 30.55%, 58.33% and 52.

The continuous change in microbial sensitivity to antimicrobial agents necessitates to have knowhow of local susceptibility patterns so as to help clinicians choose the right pathogen specific antimicrobial therapies. This retrospective study assessed the phenotypic characteristics of pathogens isolated from different clinical specimens and their susceptibility to some of second line of antibiotics like Ceftriaxone-Sulbactam-EDTA (CSE-1034), Meropenem, Piperacillin-Tazobactam (Pip/Taz) and Cefaperazone-Sulbactam used in our hospital settings.
