Results regarding whether it is essential to incorporate genetic variants into risk prediction models for esophageal cancer (EC) are inconsistent due to the different genetic backgrounds of the populations studied. We aimed to identify single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with EC among the Chinese population and to evaluate the performance of genetic and non-genetic factors in a risk model for developing EC.

This study investigates the importance of firm-level green reputation on client-side financial watchdogs’ reactions characterized by audit fees and credit ratings. Using a comprehensive sample of US-listed firms over 2007-2020, we find that firms with high environmental reputation risk (ERR) are positively associated with higher audit fees, and they also tend to receive lower credit ratings.

The issue of sustainability has gained significant prominence because of the adverse environmental impact associated with economic activities. In this scenario, financial technology (fintech) has the potential to facilitate enhanced resource allocation and foster sustainable economic growth. To enhance comprehension of this correlation, panel data has been gathered from Asian nations spanning the years 2005 to 2021. A comprehensive Green Growth (GG) Index has been formulated and subsequently examined for its correlations with various fintech variables.

The main objective of the current research is to answer the following questions. What role is played by environmental investments in the association between environmentally proactive strategies and environmental performance in supply chain? And in what way the adoption and implementation of environmentally proactive strategies is affected by organizational commitment and customer pressure in the supply chain. The research does not focus on analyzing the variables enabling the occurrence of environmental practices rather it is based on practices, which are environmentally sound.

Organizations are embracing the “go green” concept. It is being implemented in the internal and external organizational boundaries with the primary aim to establish a superior environmental and financial performance. Bearing in mind the importance of the topic current study examined how the GRHM do contributes towards the GSCM. An empirical study was conducted to examine the aforementioned relationship and for this purpose data were collected from 200 managers of hotels in Phuket Thailand. Smart-PLS have been employed for the data analysis.

The interplay of emotional instability and socio-environmental aspects of schools during adolescence
This study examined within- and over-time cross-lagged associations based on data from a quantitative questionnaire-based survey of adolescent students (T1: N= 1088; Mage = 13.70, SD = 0.53) from 23 secondary schools in Brandenburg, Germany. Results of latent cross-lagged panel design supports the mutual relations for within-time associations, which is in line with Bronfenbrenner’s model.

The etiology of ASD involves both inherited and environmental risk factors, with epigenetic processes hypothesized as one mechanism by which both genetic and non-genetic variation influence gene regulation and pathogenesis. The aim of this study was to identify DNA methylation biomarkers of ASD detectable at birth.

The human plasma proteome is important for many biological processes and targets for diagnostics and therapy. It is therefore of great interest to understand the interplay of genetic and environmental factors to determine the specific protein levels in individuals and to gain a deeper insight of the importance of genetic architecture related to the individual variability of plasma levels of proteins during adult life.

A challenge in the post-GWAS era is to assign function to disease-associated variants. However, available resources do not include all tissues or environmental exposures that are relevant to all diseases. For example, exaggerated bronchoconstriction of airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs) defines airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR), a cardinal feature of asthma.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a common condition of vision loss with disease development strongly influenced by environmental and genetic factors. Recently, 34 loci were associated with AMD at genome-wide significance. So far, little is known about a genetic overlap between AMD and other complex diseases or disease-relevant traits.

Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have identified thousands of variants associated with asthma and other complex diseases. However, the functional effects of most of these variants are unknown. Moreover, GWASs do not provide context-specific information on cell types or environmental factors that affect specific disease risks and outcomes.
