  • Vietnam has made significant progress in its energy sector with widespread electrification and a diverse energy mix dominated by hydropower, gas, and coal. However, to sustain these achievements and meet climate targets, substantial investments, especially in renewables, are needed. Failing to do so will increase reliance on imported coal, with negative environmental, health, and economic impacts. The concept of “carbon market” was also born from there as one of the economic solutions to solve environmental problems.   • The study makes use of exploratory and descriptive research design and is based on secondary sources of data collection. The dimensions of sustainable banking have been identified as environmental, social and governance (ESG). The research further highlights that sustainability issues focused by banks primarily involve “environmental” and “social” considerations, however, the “governance” aspect has not yet been considered by many. As the result of environmental risks coming along with climate changes, Vietnam economy are now facing the problem of increased stranded asset risks caused by climate change. In this study we analyzed the causes of stranded assets. Focusing on analyzing the power industry, the article also points out factors affecting stranded assets in the power industry.
