Open chromatin profiling integrates information across diverse regulatory elements to reveal the transcriptionally active genome. Tn5 transposase and DNase I sequencing-based methods prefer native or high cell numbers. Here, we describe NicE-seq (nicking enzyme assisted sequencing) for high-resolution open chromatin profiling on both native and formaldehyde-fixed cells.

The HD-LBP–treated rats had high levels of SOD and low levels of MDA in their serum samples. Moreover, HD-LBP and drug-treated groups had a high number of SER receptors and BDNF-positive cells and a low number of TUNEL-positive cells in their hippocampal brain tissues. The HD-LBP treatments decrease anxious behavior by increasing antioxidant enzyme activities, hippocampal SER and BDNF neurotransmitter levels and decreasing the TUNEL-positive cell count of ovariectomized rats.

Nitrogen is the key nutrient factor that influences soil fertility and productivity. It is the mineral nutrient that exists in different forms, but nitrate form is the most preferred form by plants. Irrespective of the form in which N is applied to soil, it undergoes transformation viz. mineralization (ammonification, nitrification), denitrification etc. by enzymes produced by micro organisms.

Studies on soybean GmNAC085 transcription factor revealed that the gene expression in plants was induced by water shortage treatments and its overexpression in the model plant Arabidopsis displayed improved plant tolerance characteristics towards drought stress. In this study, we continued analyzing the biological functions of GmNAC085 using transgenic soybean system overexpressing GmNAC085 gene, by targeting at a number of plant physiological features and biochemical activities in response to limited water growing condition.

This study was undertaken to find out the potential source of resistance of okra to yellow vein mosaic virus under natural epiphytic condition. The experiment was conducted with ten genotypes/cultivars at Main Vegetable Research Station and Department of Biochemistry, B.A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand. Out of ten genotypes/cultivars GAO-5 was registered with the higher of peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase activities and minimum number of whitefly population at 35 and 60 days after germination (DAS) as compared to rest of all genotypes.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is considered as the epitome of an opportunistic pathogens of hospitalized patients. A total of 159 clinical specimens were recovered and molecular identified by PCR assay. The number of isolates which identified as P. aeruginosa was 101 clinical isolates. Considering the effect of 14 natural products/extracts on some virulence factors of MDR isolates, sub inhibitory concentration (½ MIC) of Syzygium aromaticum (clove) buds extract inhibit the activity of alkaline protease enzyme on skimmed milk agar.

The filamentous fungus Paecilomyces is currently being developed as a biocontrol agent against plant parasitic nematodes, which often cause black leaf disease in pepper and coffee trees. Nematode eggs and cuticles are the infection sites for biocontrol agents that penetrate those areas by the production of lytic enzymes. Paecilomyces variotii NV01 was isolated from pepper soil from the Dak Lak province. The purpose of this work is to study the activity of protease and chitinase in the strain Paecilomyces variotii NV01. The protease activity was determined to be 82.3 U/ml in a 0.

Soil contains huge diversity of microorganism which produces different types of enzymes. Amylase is one of them that hydrolyses starch into its monomer compounds, the smallest being glucose. Hence, amylase is a very prevalent enzyme produced biologically by various kinds of microorganisms and used in industrial sectors for various purposes. Soil bacteria can be isolated and commercially grown in large numbers to produce a vast amount of amylase. In addition, amylases that are extracted require optimum conditions to show greatest activity.

Stem rot of rice (Oryza sativae L.) caused by Sclerotium oryzae Catt. is found to occur frequently in Manipur infecting all cultivated lowland rice cultivars and become a major concern in rice production. Local strains of Pseudomanas fluorescens and Trichoderma collected from rice fields of Imphal East and Imphal West districts of Manipur were screened for their ability to control S. oryzae and production of different biocontrol mechanisms under laboratory conditions. Further, combined application of talc formulations of selected strains of P. fluorescens IE 62 and T.

Recent years have witnessed high levels of activity in identifying enzyme systems that catalyse H-transfer by quantum tunneling. Rather than being restricted to a small number of specific enzymes as perceived initially, it has now become an accepted mechanism for H-transfer in a growing number of enzymes. Furthermore, H-tunneling is driven by the thermally induced dynamics of the enzyme. In some of those enzymes that break stable C–H bonds the reaction proceeds purely by quantum tunneling, without the need to partially ascend the barrier.

Microcalorimetry and UV-vis spectroscopy were used to conduct thermodynamic and kinetic investigations of the scission of calf thymus DNA catalyzed by bleomycin A5 (BLM-A5) in the presence of ferrous ion and oxygen. The molar reaction enthalpy for the cleavage, the Michaelis– Menten constant for calf thymus DNA and the turnover number of BLM-A5 were calculated by a novel thermokinetic method for an enzyme-catalyzed reaction to be )577 ± 19 kJÆmol)1, 20.4 ± 3.8 lM and 2.28 ± 0.49 · 10)2 s)1, respectively, at 37.0 °C. This DNA cleavage was a largely exothermic reaction....

A severe challenge to the idea that mitochondrial DNA mutations play a major role in the aging process in mammals is that clear loss-of-function mutations accumulate only to very low levels (under 1% of total) in almost any tissue, even by very old age. Their accumulation is punctate: some cells become nearly devoid of wild-type mitochondrial DNA and exhibit no activity for the partly mitochondrially encoded enzyme cytochrome c oxidase. Such cells accumulate in number with aging, suggesting that they survive indefinitely, which is itself paradoxical....
