  • Open chromatin profiling integrates information across diverse regulatory elements to reveal the transcriptionally active genome. Tn5 transposase and DNase I sequencing-based methods prefer native or high cell numbers. Here, we describe NicE-seq (nicking enzyme assisted sequencing) for high-resolution open chromatin profiling on both native and formaldehyde-fixed cells.

  • The HD-LBP–treated rats had high levels of SOD and low levels of MDA in their serum samples. Moreover, HD-LBP and drug-treated groups had a high number of SER receptors and BDNF-positive cells and a low number of TUNEL-positive cells in their hippocampal brain tissues. The HD-LBP treatments decrease anxious behavior by increasing antioxidant enzyme activities, hippocampal SER and BDNF neurotransmitter levels and decreasing the TUNEL-positive cell count of ovariectomized rats.

  • Nitrogen is the key nutrient factor that influences soil fertility and productivity. It is the mineral nutrient that exists in different forms, but nitrate form is the most preferred form by plants. Irrespective of the form in which N is applied to soil, it undergoes transformation viz. mineralization (ammonification, nitrification), denitrification etc. by enzymes produced by micro organisms.

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa is considered as the epitome of an opportunistic pathogens of hospitalized patients. A total of 159 clinical specimens were recovered and molecular identified by PCR assay. The number of isolates which identified as P. aeruginosa was 101 clinical isolates. Considering the effect of 14 natural products/extracts on some virulence factors of MDR isolates, sub inhibitory concentration (½ MIC) of Syzygium aromaticum (clove) buds extract inhibit the activity of alkaline protease enzyme on skimmed milk agar.

  • The filamentous fungus Paecilomyces is currently being developed as a biocontrol agent against plant parasitic nematodes, which often cause black leaf disease in pepper and coffee trees. Nematode eggs and cuticles are the infection sites for biocontrol agents that penetrate those areas by the production of lytic enzymes. Paecilomyces variotii NV01 was isolated from pepper soil from the Dak Lak province. The purpose of this work is to study the activity of protease and chitinase in the strain Paecilomyces variotii NV01. The protease activity was determined to be 82.3 U/ml in a 0.

  • Soil contains huge diversity of microorganism which produces different types of enzymes. Amylase is one of them that hydrolyses starch into its monomer compounds, the smallest being glucose. Hence, amylase is a very prevalent enzyme produced biologically by various kinds of microorganisms and used in industrial sectors for various purposes. Soil bacteria can be isolated and commercially grown in large numbers to produce a vast amount of amylase. In addition, amylases that are extracted require optimum conditions to show greatest activity.

  • Recent years have witnessed high levels of activity in identifying enzyme systems that catalyse H-transfer by quantum tunneling. Rather than being restricted to a small number of specific enzymes as perceived initially, it has now become an accepted mechanism for H-transfer in a growing number of enzymes. Furthermore, H-tunneling is driven by the thermally induced dynamics of the enzyme. In some of those enzymes that break stable C–H bonds the reaction proceeds purely by quantum tunneling, without the need to partially ascend the barrier.

  • A severe challenge to the idea that mitochondrial DNA mutations play a major role in the aging process in mammals is that clear loss-of-function mutations accumulate only to very low levels (under 1% of total) in almost any tissue, even by very old age. Their accumulation is punctate: some cells become nearly devoid of wild-type mitochondrial DNA and exhibit no activity for the partly mitochondrially encoded enzyme cytochrome c oxidase. Such cells accumulate in number with aging, suggesting that they survive indefinitely, which is itself paradoxical....
