Epipelic diatom

Seasonal variations in the composition, density and diversity of the epipelic diatom assemblages were investigated monthly from March, 1999, to September, 2000, at 8 sampling sites chosen in the littoral of Izmit Bay. The main physical and chemical parameters, which affected species composition and density, were also measured on every sampling date.

The shoreline benthic diatoms of Asartepe Dam Lake were identified from different habitats (epipelic, epiphytic, and epilithic) at 7 sampling stations between April 2003 and June 2004. In the investigation, a total of 93 taxa were identified. Of those, Cymbella affinis Kütz.

The taxonomic composition of diatom flora of the Balikhli River (Balikhli Chay), Northwest Iran, was studied from October 2013 through September 2014. In total 109 taxa belonging to 50 genera were identified. Nitzschia (18 spp.), Navicula (9 spp.), and Gomphonema (7 spp.) were the most abundant genera.
