  • Micronutrient deficiency is a public health problem even though vegetable consumption could avert it. Vitamin C [Ascorbic acid (AA) and dehydroascorbate (DHAA)], β-carotene, lutein and vitamin B9 contents in seven traditional green leafy vegetables (raw and cooked) from Ghana were determined, to identify good sources and their potential contribution to Dietary Recommended Intakes.

  • Iron and zinc are essential micronutrients for both plant productivity and nutritional quality. Although Fe is the most abundant transitional metal in the world, its chemical properties hinder its availability to plants. The research aimed to compare different genotypes of aerobic rice for their iron and zinc content and measures their comparative losses among different genotypes, from brown to white rice. Quantification of Fe and Zn was estimated by using X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy in brown and white rice.

  • An experiment was carried out to investigation mango fruit of variety Kesar, Alphonso, Sonpari and Totapuri were collected at Harvest stage and different part peel, pulp and kernel for estimation of macronutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S) and micronutrients (Zn, Fe, Mn and Cu). Nutrient partitioning at harvest stage is revealed maximum N (2.29 %), Mg (0.22 %) and S (0.36 %) content were in peel and highest Ca (0.80 %) accumulation in pulp of Kesar variety.

  • An investigation was carried out to estimate the level of selected macro and micronutrients in the soil and fodder of ten tehsils of Udaipur district of Rajasthan. The soil analysis indicated that moderate amount of major nutrients like Phosphorous, Potassium, Magnesium and calcium were present in these soils. This study indicated that the soils of this region were rich in micronutrients viz., Fe and Pb whereas, Mn, Cu and S contents were intermediate in quantity. On the other hand Zn was found to be deficient in these soils. The average Ca content in straws (0.

  • Generation mean analysis study in cowpea was undertaken to estimate the gene action operating in the inheritance of yield and its components using six basic generations viz. P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1 and BC2 of two different crosses namely PGCP-63 X Pant Lobia-1 and Pant Lobia-3 x Pant Lobia-1 were studied. For most of the studied traits, additive, dominant, additive x additive, additive x dominance and dominance x dominance were significant. Additive effect significantly contributed for number of pods per plant and 100 seed weight.
