Paravertabral blocks (PVB) are in use to adequately manage pain arising from a variety of operations on the thorax, abdomen or pelvis. PVB is straightforward, efficacious in operations performed. This study was undertaken to evaluate how efficacious ultrasound-guided thoracic paravertebral block is when used in patients undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCN).

This prospective study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Institutional Review Board of Family hospital and written informed consent for procedures was obtained. From May 2018 to March 2019, 23 patients who underwent treatment for thyroid cysts by EA were enrolled in this study and were followed up for 1 month at Family hospital. The primary endpoint was efficient after one month as the volume reduction ratio was ≥ 50%. Secondary endpoints were improvements in symptoms, cosmetic scores, and safety. Multiple logistic regression analysis was used.

This research was approved by the Ethics Committee of Dong Nai General Hospital. The fingernail collected from 29 women with breast cancer and 30 healthy women, who are the same age and living in Dong Nai province, Vietnam. The concentrations of Fe, Se, and Zn in the fingernails were determined using the k0-INAA method. The analytical data were evaluated using some statistical analysis for the correlation of trace elements in the fingernails of both groups.

Central Venous Catheter (CVC) remains a suitable form of vascular access for patients with chronic hemodialysis and has been estimated that almost 30-40% of patients are dependent on CVCs for their vascular access. Aim of the study is to determine the prevalence of Catheter Related Blood Stream Infections (CRBSIs). The study began in January 2010. Ethics approval for the conduct of the study was gained from the UTS Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) before the recruitment of student participants commenced. Final clearance from the UTS HREC was obtained at the end of March 2010 and 40 places were then reserved at the UTS IELTS Test Centre for the Academic module of the IELTS Test to be conducted on 10 July 2010.
