Lesion-mimic and premature aging (lmpa) mutant lmpa1 was identified from the ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS) mutant library in the bread wheat variety Keda 527 (KD527) background. To reveal the genetic basis of lmpa1 mutant, phenotypic observations and analyses of chlorophyll content and photosynthesis were carried out in lmpa1, KD527 and their F1 and F2 derivatives.

Nghiên cứu sự ảnh hưởng của Ethyl methane sulfonate đến sự hình thành các đột biến ở cây hoa chuông (Sinningia speciose (G. Lodd.) Hiern). Đoạn thân của hoa chuông in vitro được xử lý bằng EMS với 6 nồng độ khác nhau (0%; 0,2%; 0,4%; 0,6%; 0,8%; 1%) trong 1 giờ và 2 giờ. Kết quả cho thấy nồng độ EMS càng cao, thời gian xử lý mẫu càng dài thì tỷ lệ mẫu sống, phát sinh chồi càng giảm và càng xuất hiện nhiều hình thái khác hơn so với đối chứng.

Drought is a major threat to wheat production worldwide and development of drought-tolerant wheat genotypes may improve the production of this cereal crop in drought affected regions. In the present study, 24 mutant lines were developed by treating a wheat variety ‘NN-Gandum-1(NN-1) with ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS). The M5 , M6 , and M7 generations were evaluated for quantitative traits under well irrigated and rainfed conditions. Furthermore, best performing mutants of M6 and M7 generations were examined for biochemical parameters.

The present investigation was carried out to find the efficiency and effectiveness of various mutagenic treatments of gamma rays and EMS on cape gooseberry. Genetically pure, uniform and dry seeds of cape gooseberry were subjected to 2, 5, 10, 15 and 20 kR doses of gamma rays and 0.02, 0.03, 0.04 and 0.05 M concentration of ethyl methane sulfonate along with control. Chlorophyll mutation, biological damages and viable mutant frequency was recorded in M1 and M2 generation.

In an attempt to develop superior Trichoderma viride isolates for improvement in chitinase Enzyme productivity, induction of mutants was applied. After application of different concentrations of Ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS) and Hydroxyl amine (HA) treatments on T.viride mutants were obtained. Trichoderma viride was determined by its physiological state so that change in genetical conditions could alter the antagonism. Hence, the genetic modification using mutagenesis offers the potential for producing improved bioprotection is likely to enhance their biocontrol.

The Phycomyces blakesleeanus wild-type is yellow, because it accumulates b-carotene as the main carotenoid. A new carotenoid mutant of this fungus (A486) was isolated, after treatment with ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS), showing a whitish coloration.
