Evaluation of resistance in rice genotypes

Xem 1-11 trên 11 kết quả Evaluation of resistance in rice genotypes
  • One hundred rice genotypes were analyzed to evaluate the genetic polymorphism and identification of resistant lines to bacterial leaf blight (BLB) disease caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae using simple sequences repeat (SSR) markers. A total of 38 alleles were detected by seven polymorphic markers showing highly polymorphic across all genotypes with an average of 5.42 alleles per polymorphic marker. The marker RM-21, RM-122 and RM-224 produced maximum 6 alleles.

  • The relative resistance or susceptibility of nearly 215 rice genotypes supplied by Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad was screened to identify the resistant genotype against rice yellow stem borer. The trial was conducted following augmented block design with two checks i.e., local check (BPT 5204) and susceptible check (TN1) for a period of two successive kharif seasons (2016 & 2017). The per cent incidence of stem borer was recorded at their peak infestation of dead hearts at tillering stage and white ears at reproductive stage.

  • Studies were carried out under glass house conditions to study the evaluation of resistance in some rice genotypes against Brown plant hopper, Nilaparvata lugens. Among the rice genotypes tested against N. lugens (Stal), Ptb 33 (the resistant check) lowest mean damage rating (1.00), while genotypes, PTB 41 exhibited a damage score ranging from (1.00-1.67), when compared to T(N)1 (9.00).The genotypes viz., Co 43, ADT 36, Columbia, Swarna, SR 26B were moderately resistant with damage rating of (3.00-3.67) and the remaining genotypes were moderately susceptible or highly susceptible.

  • The present study was conducted at the experimental farm of ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, India in Kharif season 2016 with an objective to identify false smut resistance rice genotypes. False smut (Ustilaginoidea virens (Cooke) Takahashi) is of serious concern to the rice growers as it affects rice quality and significantly reduces the yield particularly in irrigated ecosystem.

  • A glass house experiment was conducted at Department of Entomology, IGKV, Raipur (Chhattisgarh), during 2014-15 to evaluate different rice genotypes for brown planthopper (BPH) resistance. A total of 392 rice genotypes were evaluated, of which 58 were from IRRI, 78 were aromatic types and rest 256 represented the local germplasm. Of 58 rice genotypes from International Rice Research Institute six viz. Ptb 33 (0.17), IR 03A159 (0.45), IR 09N522 (0.66), IR 07A179 (0.67), IR 08N136 (0.90) and IR 09N538 (0.91), were found to be highly resistant to BPH while 32.7% were resistant.

  • Mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] is an important short duration grain legume which is grown in different parts of the country, for grain and green manure. It is an outstanding source of easily digestible proteins with low flatulence, which balances the staple rice diet in Asia. Mungbean yellow mosaic disease (MYMD) caused by whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) transmitted mungbean yellow mosaic virus (MYMV) is an important constraint of mungbean in India. Thirty five Indian mungbean genotypes were evaluated to identify the source of resistance against MYMV during kharif-2013.

  • India is among the topmost rice producers and consumers in the world. Rice crop is susceptible to various bacterial diseases and one such commonly known disease is Bacterial Blight (BB) caused by the pathogen Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) and is known to severally impact rice crop yield. Rice variety HKR-47 is widely popular amongst rice farmers and consumers in Haryana because of its high yield, medium slender grains, and excellent cooking and eating qualities, however, HKR-47 exhibits less endurance to BB.

  • India ranks second in production of rice (Oryza sativa). The culm plays an important role in determining the lodging resistance and crop architecture of rice. The gene, STRONG CULM (SCM2) has been reported to be associated with strong culm.

  • Studies were undertaken to evaluate the rice genotypes of Sikkim and Tripura for their resistance against brown planthopper (BPH) under glasshouse conditions. Among 74 rice genotypes phenotyped, a genotype (AC-39843) was considered as resistant and two other genotype (AC-39842 and AC-39877) of Tripura were categorized as moderately resistant to BPH. To understand their mechanism of resistance, resistant genotypes were evaluated for different parameter of antixenosis and antibiosis.

  • One hundred indigenous collection of rice germplasm were evaluated for ten quantitative traits to assess the genetic variability, heritability, associations and estimation of yield related traits including area under disease progress curve for bacterial leaf blight. was present for all the traits,. In all germplasm, the analysis of variance revealed a wide range of variability and significant differences for the characters under study, indicating the presence of high genetic variability among the genotypes and considerable scope for selection.

  • Rice (OryzasativaL.) is an important cereal crop belonging to the family Poaceae and has two cultivated and 22 wild species. The cultivated species are Oryza sativa and Oryzaglaberrima. Oryza sativa is grown all over the world. Rice is known to suffer from number of diseases caused by fungal, bacterial and viral origins. Identification of resistant genotypes is again an essential continuous process either to recommend for cultivation in endemic area or to use as donors of the resistant genes.
