Examining changes in sensitivity

What are the key aspects to achieving acceptable usability outcomes for information systems being developed? The changing technologies and increased usage across the general population, the impacts of this in our everyday lives, at work and at leisure are exponentially increasing. The interfaces and interaction styles presented as part of these technologies have been challenged to be more intuitive, contextually sensitive, location aware, human centred and aimed at a larger community of stakeholders.

This project is focused on studying the biological effects of low-power RF radiation on the expression and function of mechanosensitive ion channel protein (Piezo-1). To evaluate the effects of long-term exposures, cells were exposed at the frequency of 1800 MHz and power of 17 dBm for a period of 2 and 4 hrs using the transverse electromagnetic (TEM) cell exposure system. To study the effects of short-term RF radiation (10 min), exposures emitted from the mobile phone headset at the frequency of 845 MHz and powers of -15 dBm and -5 dBm were applied to cell cultures.

The present paper addresses the problem for free vibration of multistep Timoshenko beams with arbitrary number of cracks, continuing the work accomplished in [28], where the problem was studied on the base of Euller-Bernoulli beam theory. First, the obtained general solution of uniform Timoshenko beam is employed to develop the TMM for modal analysis of multistep Timoshenko beam with multiple cracks. Then, effect of beam slenderness and stepped change in cross section on sensitivity of natural frequencies to cracks is thoroughly examined.
