Excess ammonia

A hydrated complex of 1,10-phenanthroline with Cu2+ cation was intercalated in the interlayer space of montmorillonite. This intercalation occurs initially by through a cation exchange mechanism in which the charge of the complex cation compensates the excess of the negative charge of the interlayer, then, once the cation exchange capacity (CEC) value has been reached, by direct adsorption of the sulfate salt of this complex (i.e. the cation together with its sulfate counterion).

Urea in diets of ruminants has been investigated to substitute expensive animal and vegetable protein sources for more than a century, and has been widely incorporated in diets of ruminants for many years. Urea is also recycled to the fermentative parts of the gastrointestinal (GI) tracts through saliva or direct secretory flux from blood depending upon the dietary situations. Within the GI tracts, urea is hydrolyzed to ammonia by urease enzymes produced by GI microorganisms and subsequent ammonia utilization serves the synthesis of microbial protein.

A nondeterministic finite automaton was designed to monitor enzymatic regulation and detoxification of excess ammonia in the urea cycle and its disorders. The designed machine is used for the diagnosis of deficiency and for regulating the expression of any of the enzymes involved with acceptance and rejection states in the urea cycle.

Yadav et al. (2007) studied on fertilizer industrial discharge showed that some components in the discharge may interact with each other and produce toxic to aquatic organisms. For instance, the interaction between dissolved oxygen and ammonia changed the respiratory physiology in fresh water fish.
