Excess Soil Moisture (ESM) stress caused by temporary water logging is a major limiting factor for maize production and productivity in Asian countries. In this context, the present investigation was carried out to study genetic variability, character association and path analysis in 35 maize hybrids under excessive soil moisture condition.

Maize is highly productive crop if it is grown under optimal environmental and management conditions. Waterlogging, caused by contingent flooding, continuous rainfall and inadequate drainage or a high water table, is one of the most important constraints for maize production in Asia and many other parts of the world.

In recent years due to drought yield of crop is adversely affected. In this context to increase the crop yield by utilising drought prone region, influences of moisture stress tolerant rhizobacteria on growth parameter of sorghum plant were examined under moisture stress conditions. Four autochthonous moisture stress tolerant bacterial strain isolated from semiarid region identified as Serratia marcescens strain L1SC8, Pseudomonas putida strain L3SC1, Enterobacter cloacae strain L1CcC1 and Serratia marcescens strain L2FmA4.
