Expressing satisfaction

Research has highlighted that satisfaction in health, and instrumental support (IS) are key areas of life affecting an individual’s wellbeing. Many social and public health initiatives use these two intervention mechanisms to improve individual’s wellbeing. For the purpose of cost-benefit assessment, there has been growing interest in expressing these intervention effects in economic terms.

Patient satisfaction is a subjective and challenging perception, linking physical, expressive, psychological, societal, and cultural factors. Dissatisfaction arises if the patient feels an inconsistency between expected and delivered care. Usually health care satisfactions are very high and according to many studies levels of satisfaction are above 85% and patient’s satisfaction in terms of anesthesia is not very different.

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is the most common joint replacement surgery in Canada. Earlier Canadian work reported 1 in 5 TKA patients expressing dissatisfaction following surgery. A better understanding of satisfaction could guide program improvement. We investigated patient satisfaction post-TKA in British Columbia (BC).

The study explores the case of express bus companies in Tay Ninh province, Vietnam. By using the structural equation model approach to analyze the data collected from 295 passengers, who have experience in using the express bus, the results reveal that service quality has a significantly positive relationship with both perceived value and corporate image. Specifically, customer satisfaction and organizational image also positively influence behavioral intention.

Based on the theories of cross-cultural communication, this study aims at investigating the similarities and differences in expressing satisfaction towards different co-interactants in the Vietnamese and American languages and cultures. It focuses primarily on the popularity of strategies of expressing satisfaction employed. The day before the Conference, Dr Gordon Harper accompanied by officers of BACAMH visited the Center for Neurodevelopment and Autism, which had been established recently in BSMMU. This center is a government initiative to establish a nationwide pediatric neurodevelopment and autism-related management, training and research centre in Bangladesh. Dr Harper expressed his satisfaction after visiting the center. As autism is still a novel concept in Bangladesh, he believed that both this center and BACAMH could achieve a better management and outcome for children and their parents.
