The major protein fraction in pearl millet is prolamin the alcohol soluble fraction called pennisetin. Researches on the factors affecting pennisetin extraction and on its functional properties are still very scant. In this paper, the effect of temperature, reducing agents (β-mercaptoethanol, dithiothreitol or sodium metabisulfite) and sodium hydroxide on pennisetin extraction was assessed.

Oil was extracted from moringa (PKM-1) seed kernel by using supercritical fluid (SCCO2) extraction process. Supercritical fluid pressures of 100, 150 and 200 bar and temperatures of 40, 50 and 60 °C were considered for SC-CO2 extraction process. Maximum extraction yield of 37.76 g/100g and extraction efficiency of 98.43% were obtained at supercritical fluid pressure of 200 bar and temperature of 40 °C.

Response surface methodology was applied to optimize the extraction of phenolic compounds from fresh Pouzolzia zeylanica plant using hot water as a solvent. A central composite design (CCD) in form (23+star) was used to investigate the effects of two independent variables, namely, extraction temperature (70 to 90oC) and extraction time (20 to 40 min).

Deproteinated cheese whey was used for biomass production of probiotic strain Lactobacillus helveticus MTCC 5463 in a biofermenter. Optimization of growth parameters such as temperature, pH and time of incubation as well as nutrient supplementation of cheese whey was carried out using response surface methodology (RSM). Cheese whey supplemented with 0.95% yeast extract and 0.95% proteose peptone, inoculated with 6% (v/v) active culture of L. helveticus MTCC 5463 and fermented for 24 h at optimized temperature of 40ºC and pH 6.25 yielded 3.25 g/L dry cell biomass and 14.

In the current context of eco-pollution, the substitute of conventional plastics with bioplastics is a big confront. On account of that, a non-growth associated PHB production study was conducted using Zobellella species under submerged fermentation process. As a result, Zobellella species showed the ability to accumulate 2.2g/L of PHB at pH 8. 0, temperature 37oC, salt concentration 2% in modified growth medium containing vitamins. Then, primary structural characterization of extracted polymer was conducted by FTIR analysis. The high intense peak was obtained at 1720.

The optimum conditions obtained from response surface analysis was 4.99 g/100 g moisture, 1.05 mm particle size and 9.2 h extraction time. Under these optimum conditions, the maximum fat yield was 37.35 g/100 g. The extracted fat was a white solid at room temperature. The physical and chemical characteristics of the extracted fat compared well with those of conventional fats,...Invite you to consult the documentation.

Octadecyl grafting silica was synthesized using trimethoxyoctadecyl silane. Reaction conditions were optimized so that the carbon percentage of resulted material was similar to that of commercial products. Temperature and catalyst played very important roles in the reaction. The material was also undergone the end-capping process to reduce unreacted silanol groups.

The aim of Caffeine and chlorogenic acid separation from raw coffee beans using supercritical CO2 in water was to develop new process for extracting and separating hydrophilic and hydrophobic compounds from coffee beans using supercritical CO in water. In this work, experiments and simulation of the process has been conducted. Chlorogenic acid and caffeine from coffee beans were used as model compounds of hydrophilic and hydrophobic compounds, respectively.

A100-kDa proteinwith endoglucanase activitywas purified from Triton X-100 extract of cells of the thermoacidophilic Gram-positive bacterium Alicyclobacillus acidocaldarius. The enzyme exhibited activity towards carboxy methyl cel-lulose and oat spelt xylan with pH and temperature optima of 4 and 80C, respectively. Cloning and nucleotide sequence analysis of the corresponding gene (celB) revealed an ORF encoding a preprotein of 959 amino acids which is consistent with an extracellular localization.

The hypothesis is tested that Jun–Fos activator protein-1 coiled coil inter-actions are dominated during late folding events by the formation of intri-cate intermolecular electrostatic contacts. A previously derived cJun–FosW was used as a template as it is a highly stable relative of the wild-type cJun–cFos coiled coil protein (thermal melting temperature = 63C versus 16C), allowing kinetic folding data to be readily extracted.

Problem statement: Dilute sulphuric acid and enzymatic hydrolysis methods were used for sugar extraction. Xylose and glucose sugars were obtained from corn cobs. Approach: Acid hydrolysis of corn cobs gave higher amount of sugars than enzymatic hydrolysis. Results: The results showed that optimal temperature and time for sugar fermentation were approximately 25°C and 50 h by two yeast strains (S. cerevisiae and P. Stipitis) respectively.

In modern high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), computers in a broad sense are used in every instrumental module and at every stage of analysis. Computers control the flow rate, eluent composition, temperature, injection volume, and injection process. Detector output signal is converted from analog form into the digital representation to recognize the presence of peaks, and then at higher level of computer analysis a chromatogram is obtained. All these computer-based functions are performed in the background, and the chromatographer usually does not think about them.
