Factors affecting livelihoods

This paper is an attempt to analyze objective and subjective factors that affect the livelihood activities of Raglai people, Bac Ai district, Ninh Thuan province. By a combination of quantitative research methods and qualitative research methods, the study shows that natural conditions, human resources, financial resources, social resources, etc. have an influence on livelihood activities leading to poverty of the Raglai community.

The research results determined that there are 6 factors that directly affect the quality of cashew nuts at the research site. Base on the research results, the implications of governance have been proposed to be good for the quality of cashew nuts in the face of climate change.

The state of Meghalaya is blessed with abundant rainfall, fertile soil, diversity in natural resources and having a strong base in traditional knowledge, which have made it favorable for its Agricultural growth but still there is a decline in agricultural output. Land degradation due to loss of fertility and lots of other bio-physical and socio-economic causes paves the way for food insecurity, livelihood and affecting the economy of the state as a whole.

Climate change is the most profound challenge over the international community in 21st century. It already affects livelihood and health of people worldwide and mostly people under poverty line. A few years ago snowfall was a regular phenomenon but from the past 20 years only 2-3 instances of snowfall are recorded particularly in Himachal Pradesh. There is an average increase in temperature of about 1.5ºC till October, whereas, 2-10% reduction in rainfall and 50-100 ppm increase in CO2 concentration has been observed, that reduce the apple yield.

The study on assessment of factors affecting tree husbandry and woodlots establishment was carried out between September and November 2014 in all seven districts of Kilimanjaro region, namely Hai, Siha Rombo, Mwanga, Same, Moshi Rural and Moshi Municipal Council (MMC).
