The objectives were: to investigate the differences in the socio-economic characteristics of rubber farmers who operate either a rubber mono-cropping system (RMCS) or a rubberbased intercropping system (RBIS), to identify RMCS farmer's attitudes toward RBIS, to determine the decision-making factors influencing the adoption of RBIS, and to examine the different types of intercrop available.

This paper reviews the past studies in order to identify those socio-economic, institutional and technical factors that explain adoption or lack of it for understanding the success or failure of these SWC measures. The results showed that educational level of the household head, awareness, age, land holding size, perceptions about soil erosion, access to credit; land tenure, offfarm employment and income, information sources and extension contact significantly affect farmers' adoption decision and the extent of soil and water conservation measures.

Rice plays a vital role in the national food grain supply and is the main driver of India’s food security. Despite having a firm footage on rice cultivation, India is facing a formidable challenge to feed its burgeoning population.Seed is a vital and essential input for attaining sustained growth in agriculture production and productivity. Hence, the present study was taken up to identify the preferences of farmers while purchasing seed from various sources and to estimate the source-wise per unit cost of seed in Nalgonda district of Telangana.

To sustain dairy farming as a rural livelihood and to meet the growing demand of milk, necessitates dissemination of technologies/innovations for improving the farm’s output. There is also a need to understand how far existing innovations are diffused to the farmers and factors influencing diffusion and/or rejection. Based on the highest cattle population and best rank in adoption of recommended dairy innovations three districts namely Visakhapatnam, Krishna and Chittoor were selected from each region of Andhra Pradesh respectively.

The objective of the thesis is to determine the factors and their influence on the choice of application and decision to maintain tea production methods according to GAP standards of tea farmers in the Northern midland and mountainous region. Based on the results of empirical research, the thesis proposes solutions to encourage farmers to apply and maintain tea production according to GAP standards.
