  • A policy of high rice prices can increase paddy farm incomes but also cause a rise in rice expenditures for farm households. Such a policy is needed to stimulate production but can harm rice consumers, especially poor families. We surveyed 284 paddy farmers in Gantar Sub-District, Indramayu Regency, Indonesia to analyze the impact of increasing rice prices on farmers’ net incomes, including poor paddy farmers. We found that a price increase benefits farmer if the price transmission elasticity is more than 0.2 for non-poor paddy farmers or 0.6 for poor paddy farmers.

  • A study was conducted in Navsari district of South Gujarat to know the level of information seeking behaviour of animal enterprise holders of FIGs. A sample of 120 FIGs members was selected for the study. This study revealed that majority (84.17 per cent) of the FIGs members had medium level of information seeking behaviour followed by those with lower level (14.17 per cent) and higher level (1.67 per cent) information seeking behaviour.

The attitude scale developed was found to be highly reliable and valid. The final attitude scale consisted of 15 statements and this scale was administered to 30 farmers in Chikkaballapura district in Karnataka during 2017-2018 to analyse their attitude of farmers towards livelihood diversification.   • A bench mark survey was undertaken to find out the dairy animal management practices followed by the member farmers of dairy co-operative society in randomly selected three talukas of Rajkot district in Saurashtra region of Gujarat state. In each taluka five villages and in each village ten respondents were selected. It was observed that all the respondents milked their animals twice in a day by using wet knuckling method (98%) of milking – Majority of the milked produced generally goes to dairy co - operative society except the amount, which routinely used for family need.
