Genus Terellia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 includes approximately 60 species throughout the Palearctic region. Larvae of Terellia develop in the flowerheads of the family Asteraceae. In this study, the authors collected species of Terellia from possible host plants in the summer of 2009 and 2017 in northeastern Turkey using an insect net. Collected materials were pinned and deposited in the Gaziantep University Entomology Laboratory. Upon identification, Terellia (Cerajocera) akguli sp. nov. has been described as a new species and placed in the subgenus Cerajocera. Also, T. (C.

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) is an oilseed crop in the Compositae (a.k.a. Asteraceae) that is valued for its oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids. Here, we present an analysis of the genetic architecture of safflower domestication and compare our findings to those from sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.), an independently domesticated oilseed crop within the same family.

AGAMOUS (AG) subfamily genes regulate the floral organs initiation and development, fruit and seed development. At present, there has been insufficient study of the function of AG subfamily genes in Asteraceae. Marigold (Tagetes erecta) belongs to Asteraceae family whose unique inflorescence structure makes it an important research target for understanding floral organ development in plants.

One of the commercially exploited flower crops belonging to the asteraceae family is Marigold. In many states, the commercial extraction of marigold carotenoids is currently becoming popular in our country. Proper crop management techniques are needed to produce cost-effective yields and improve the quality of marigold flowers. Number of harvestings manifest that the harvestings were not far from each other. The average number of harvestings resulted as non-significant.

Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.) is a medicinal plant species from the Asteraceae family. It is known to have numerous pharmacological activities, such as hypoglycemic, antistress, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial activities. This study was designed to isolate and quantitative herniarin, a well-known coumarin of chamomile. Herniarin was isolated from the chamomile absolute by vacuum liquid chromatography with n-hexane and chloroform mixed. Structure of herniarin was determined by analyzing the UV-Vis, IR, and NMR spectroscopy data.

Sunflower is an important major oilseed crop ranks next to groundnut and soybean at global level. It belongs to the family Asteraceae and mostly infected by several fungal, bacterial and viral diseases among which leaf spot and blight caused by Alternaria helianthi was considered as one of the most destructive diseases in the sunflower growing areas. An experiment was studied to determine the disease incidence and intensity of the disease in both Kharif and Rabi season (2018-19) by observing the plant raised in field.
