Farm household income

A policy of high rice prices can increase paddy farm incomes but also cause a rise in rice expenditures for farm households. Such a policy is needed to stimulate production but can harm rice consumers, especially poor families. We surveyed 284 paddy farmers in Gantar Sub-District, Indramayu Regency, Indonesia to analyze the impact of increasing rice prices on farmers’ net incomes, including poor paddy farmers. We found that a price increase benefits farmer if the price transmission elasticity is more than 0.2 for non-poor paddy farmers or 0.6 for poor paddy farmers.

This study attempts to measure attitudes toward risk and analyze the influence of farmers' attitudes toward risk on the economic efficiency in hybrid maize cultivation offarm households in the Mekong Delta. A study was planned to know the decision making behaviour and its influence on the socio economic performance of farm households. The respondents were chosen from three districts viz. In India,most of the farmer having least cultivated and lower income as a result low annual expenditure on food consumption, here in the study area they have medium to low level of cultivated land that most affect their nutrition security. Agriculture helps in ensuring good nutrition and good nutrition builds human capital which is also an input for agro-production creating a circular pathway between agriculture and nutrition.

Gender Empowerment has been a highly focused area over three decades to empower women so that they can be made free from the mettle of exploitation, deprivation, and social impoverishment. The study was conducted in Haringhata Block under Nadia district of West Bengal. The study aimed to identify the social and demographic factors affecting the economic status of farm households in West Bengal. The results of multivariate approaches like Exploratory Factor Analysis revealed that household size, age group, farm size, gender, labour force participation rate, occupation and education were identified as key variables based on the highest factor loadings of each factor.
