The main others were cultivation environment pollution, the inferior seeds, cultivation techniques and post-harvest management. The solutions to these challenges are to make surrounding farmland cleaned, to expand the certified seeds’ supply and the advanced new farming technology, to modernize facilities for drying, storage and sort of agro-products, and to improve logistics capacity.

Pig farming generates highly polluting wastewaters which entail serious environmental issues when not adequately managed. Microalgae systems can be promising for cost, energy and environment-efficient treatment of piggery wastewater (PWW). Aside from clean water, the produced biomass can be used as biostimulants and biopesticides contributing to a more sustainable agriculture.

At present the poultry farming supply vital sprig of animal protein and also the most freely reared livestock species amongst the all livestock species. In spite of its huge benefits like production of meat, eggs and job generations it frequently creates some environmental risks which are not good to both human and animal, because the poultry farming is the main cause of nasty smell, water ,soil, and air pollution.

The agricultural production in sufficient quantities in a sustainable way is the today’s greatest challenge. The sustainable way here means without deteriorating the soil health. In current scenario, the cultivation of high yielding varieties with synthetic fertilizer and agrochemicals helping to produce required food demand of growing population but indiscriminate and imbalanced use of agrochemicals imparting negative effect on soil productivity, environmental health and food quality.

There are 115 million operational holdings in the country and about 80 % are marginal and small farmers. To fulfill the basic needs of house hold including food, feed, fodder, fiber, etc. warrant an attention about bio intensive cropping system (BICS).Global warming and its consequences are amongst the most serious problems of the present century. Agricultural crop residue burning contribute towards the emission of greenhouse gases (CO2, N2O, CH4), air pollutants (CO, NH3, NOx, SO2, NMHC, volatile organic compounds), particulates matter and smoke thereby posing threat to human health.

Cabbage farming in Kisii County is faced with a number of challenges, top among them being pests and disease damages. Black rot disease has been identified as one of the major reason responsible for the low yields in cabbage. As such, a number of Biotechnological approaches such as Mulching, hot water seed treatment, pruning, biocontrol agents, use of resistant varieties and chemicals have been employed to manage the disease.

Poultry industry is one of the fastest growing markets. The poultry industry produces large amounts of solid waste. There are many different waste management options for poultry waste including land application of litter as an organic fertilizer, feed for livestock, biogas production, products for commercial purposes. Poultry wastes are posing serious environmental pollution problems, through offensive odours and promotion of fly and rodent breeding. The appropriate utilization of its waste or by-products increases the monetary output and protects from its unwanted side-effects.

The main objective of this research is to convert the waste paddy straw collected from farm fields after harvesting into useful biogas generation. For this, a newly designed paddy straw plant is developed and fabricated to utilize quintals of paddy straw to produce biogas for domestic purposes and an alternative to the LPG cylinder for Indian families. Due to favorable climatic conditions of the northern region of India; the plant was developed as a batch system to fulfill the cooking needs.

Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) locally known as „Bhendi‟ also known as lady‟s finger is a popular and most common annual vegetable crop in tropical and subtropical parts of the world. Several insect pests attack okra. Use of synthetic insecticides indiscriminately on okra causes environmental pollution and health hazards to human beings due to pesticide residues. Present day concern for pesticide residue free food has induced intense interest for organic farming.

Until well into the twentieth century, serious accidents and occupational hazards leading to disease were a normal part of working life for millions of the working population. People were made deaf by excessive noise in mills, burned by slag and molten metal in foundries, their lungs wrecked by dust in mining and farming, their organs poisoned by lead in paints or mercury used in making hats.

Every year, farm operators apply more than 12 million tons of nitrogen fertilizer and 8 million tons of phos- phorus fertilizer to agricultural land in the U.S. Unless carefully managed, much of it is carried off the fields by runoff or percolates into drainage systems, eventually ending up in streams, rivers, lakes and underground aquifers. Animal manure from livestock is also an important contributor to nutrient pollution, particularly phos- phorus.
