Farm women empowerment

The present study was carried out in two districts of Uttarakhand State. A sample size of 120 respondents was taken for descriptive data using purposive and random sampling. Interview the descriptive data was collected with the help of interview schedule method to study the practices adopted and impact of drudgery on women and children.

Primary occupation of India is agriculture and rural areas are quite concerned with this occupation. There are various aspects on which the rural development is based on agriculture, improving standard of living, imparting education, women empowerment and many more. Information sharing of new production processes with farmers was prominent in the sixties which was the key to the success of the green revolution. Rural economies can be benefitted from ICT by focusing on social production, social consumption and social services in rural areas (Malhotra, 2001).

In rural India, the percentage of women who depend on agriculture for their livelihood is as high as 84%.Apart from participation in actual cultivation; women participate in various forms of processing and marketing of agricultural produce. Women accounted for 93% of total employment in dairy production. To begin with training programmes were started to self-help groups (SHG) on labour saving equipment, processing, value addition and storage of grains followed by model processing units establishment in rural areas. Workshops and melas were also conducted for empowerment of women in SHGs.

Preservation and Value addition in agriculture predominantly offers a means to increase, rejuvenate and stabilize farm income. Krishi Vigyan Kendras is a premier training institute, signifying value addition training programme. The study reported here explored, to what extent the training programme of value addition had been changing participants perceived knowledge, acquisition of skills and adoption level Majority of the farming families in Rajasthan have marginal to small land holdings and their income is also very less.

Capacity building in rural women through formation and strengthening of SHGs was experimented at Khagribari, Dhalaguru and Dhandingguri villages of Cooch Behar district of West Bengal during 2012-15 with an objective to motivate the rural women to involve in different rural development programmes. Before the start of the trial most of the women were mere housewife and performed agricultural and allied activities in their own farming situation. Many of them were not the member of any group or organization.

The study revealed that exposure to training, Front Line Demonstration, Technical Bulletin and Extension literature etc. had increased the knowledge of rural farmwomen regarding all the subcomponents of mushroom production and empower a woman is to empower next generation. There is an urgent need to make rural farm women economically independent and we cannot think of a better alternative than entrepreneurship development.

For the well-being or flourishing of farm women, the impact were assessed in the terms of social determinants viz., income well-being, self-esteem well-being, confidence well-being, capacity well-being, decision making, nutrition and health well-being and social empowerment etc. The study was carried out to Impact assessment of social determinants on psychological wellbeing of women. The results showed that the project under reference succeeded in increasing income, expenditure and saving of the respondents. It also provided additional and regular income to its beneficiaries.

The novel experiments was undertaken among 60 on-campus trainees and 60 off-campus trainees spread among three purposively selected villages under two blocks under the domain of KVK Jainagar, Koderma. The 20 on-campus trainees and 20 off campus trainees were selected randomly from each selected villages. For the purpose of this study, Two variables namely, extent of participation and impact of KVKs in empowering rural women has been operationalized as the degree to which farm women participant in various activities in lac cultivation.

The present study was conducted in four villages of Kesla and Hoshangabad blocks of Hoshangabad District. For household income and food & nutritional security through women empowerment and to find better performance among the narmada nidhi and local non descript (ND) breed, 25 female and 5 male birds of each breed are distributed to 10 women’s of each 4 village in these 2 blocks for backyard rearing.

In India,most of the farmer having least cultivated and lower income as a result low annual expenditure on food consumption, here in the study area they have medium to low level of cultivated land that most affect their nutrition security. Agriculture helps in ensuring good nutrition and good nutrition builds human capital which is also an input for agro-production creating a circular pathway between agriculture and nutrition.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, a planned scheme of Indian Council of Agricultural Research plays vital role by organizing various mandatory programmes to the women for their empowerment in respect of knowledge and adoption of technology for the augmentation of crop production, food security, livelihood security, etc. KVK emphasizes on women empowerment through formation and functioning of SHG and providing training on entrepreneurial training which helps them to develop self confidence, attitude, motivation, economic independence, decision making, leadership, social mobility, etc.

This study was undertaken to document the gendered access to assets, to assess and improve the nutritional status of tribal women and children, to facilitate capacity building and skill upgradation through need based and sustainable interventions for improving livelihood and to document the impact. The sample of the study include 160 tribal families from two clusters of tribal villages in Shamakhunta block in Mayurbhanj district and R. Udayagiri block of Gajapati district in Odisha.

Gender Empowerment has been a highly focused area over three decades to empower women so that they can be made free from the mettle of exploitation, deprivation, and social impoverishment. The study was conducted in Haringhata Block under Nadia district of West Bengal. Both purposive as well as simple random sampling was adopted for selection of 100 respondents in five mouzas of the selected block. The present study envisages two components viz. livelihood and income generation as to have conceptual and operational contribution in empowering women adequately and workably.

To uplift the livelihood and financial conditions of the rural women value addition of minor millets can offer tremendous opportunity not only to income rather it increase national productivity and generates employment but also helps to develop economic independence and personal and social upliftment. Smt. Rathnamma is one such example who is from a small village named Gundamanatta in Srinivaspur Taluk of Kolar district. We have formed “Vaibhav Siridhanya Swasahaya Sanga” for processing of Minor Millets.
