This research aims to characterize the ways crop-livestock farms adapt themselves to work constraints. A follow-up of work activities was achieved in a sample of 14 family farms. Work times in each agricultural activity (livestock and crops) were quantified, distinguishing the contributions of family members and that of the off-farm workers.

The main objective of the study was to reduce the drudgery of the female farm workers and to recommend the proper method for doing shelling operations of maize cobs. Use of proper method not only reduces the drudgery but also improves the operating efficiency along with the comfort, besides improving the productivity of the women farm workers in doing the operation. In view of this, an effort has been made to assess the physical and physiological parameters of women farm workers who are following traditional method along with the improved method for doing shelling operation of maize cobs.

The world production of vegetables, India is the second largest producer next to china. In India, there is no mechanization available for onion transplanting. The transplanting of onion seedlings mainly depends on farm workers. So, manually operated two row paper pot onion transplanter was developed. In agricultural mechanization, the major role of ergonomics is to increase the efficiency of the operation. The study was conducted to evaluate the manually operated two row paper pot onion transplanter and compared with conventional method of transplanting.

The present study was carried out in pre dominantly vegetable and fruit growing areas namely Sirsa and Fatehabad districts of Haryana with the objective to assess suitability of developed vegetable picking bag for diversified activities on various parameters. Developed bag was found suitable and thus recommended for diversified activities i.e. vegetables (brinjal, okra, guar, chilli), fruits (Kinnow, guava) and flowers (marigold) picking.

Leptospirosis is an acute, bacterial, anthropozoonotic disease. Some occupations are highrisk group occupations for Leptospirosis e.g. field veterinarian, animal handler, dairy workers, slaughterhouse workers, rice field workers, sugar-cane field workers, sewage workers, and laboratory personnel. Poultry is known to be resistant to Leptospira spp. infection but the feed stuff available at poultry farms which are mostly located in the field attracts wild rodents. So it is important to study the prevalence of Leptospira spp.

In Indian agricultural farming, numerous drudgery prone activities are involved. Rice uprooting and transplanting are the most common example of these kinds of drudgery prone activities. Indian farmers are highly associated with these tasks and they perform a sequential work through manual efforts. In some areas of India, the improved method of uprooting and transplanting are being used but due to lack of awareness and information manual performance of these activities are much common.

Mid-Himalayan Watershed Development Project has been reckoned as an instrument to bring the second-generation Green Revolution through, increasing productivity in rainfed areas. The study revealed that the dependency ratio with respect to total workers was found to be 0.40 in case of beneficiary families and 0.26 in case of non- beneficiary families. It was found that with the interventions of the project there has significant change in area of major crops, increase in productivity and net returns of the beneficiary farms.

Low cost technologies developed for turmeric production system were tested in ginger production system. Physiological workload of the selected women workers while performing selected activities in ginger production system was assessed by heart rate method. Total 46 healthy farm workers working in the field for 6-7 hrs/ day were selected for the study. Study was conducted in Pokharni, Katneshwar, Nandgaon, Bharati Camp Dist. Today agriculture labour has become the most important component in Indian agriculture. The proportion of agricultural workers to the total workers has been declining over the years, while the corresponding ratio in the secondary and tertiary sectors is on the rise. Pursuant to this, following impacts have been predominantly noticed in agriculture in recent years: reduction in crop yield, reduction in cropping intensity and changes in traditional cropping pattern. Scarcity of farm labourers is a grave concern for the farmers, who may not even hesitate to abandon farming.

The study was conducted among 80 female and 20 male farmers from two villages of namely Aminda Rangsagre and Aminda Simsanggre of Gambegre block of West Garo Hills who are doing vegetable cultivation were selected purposive sampling procedure. The study was limited to only weeding activity as women participation is more in this activity. RULA and REBA assessment tool were used to analyze the musculoskeletal injury risks of the farm workers.

An anthropometric survey of female farm workers was conducted from the Mungeli district, in order to obtain information on the body dimensions, which may be used in ergonomic design of farm equipments. In present study different hand dimensions of right and left hand of 200 female agricultural workers have been collected. Four body dimensions and ten hand dimensions have been identified which were considered more useful for designing agricultural hand tools.

A total of 202 animal samples (167 milk and 35 pus/exudate samples from cattle and buffalo) were collected and examined from dairy cattle and buffaloes. Simultaneously, 100 nasal swabs were collected from the closely associated personnel and farm workers. Out of these, the Staphylococcus spp. were isolated from86 (42.57%) animal and 62 (62%) human samples.

Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state in India and every fourth farmer in the country comes from here. Hence, one cannot expect the farmers‟ welfare in India without considering the farmers of Uttar Pradesh. About 17 per cent of total food grain production of the country comes from Uttar Pradesh. Agriculture in Uttar Pradesh is less lucrative as it is characterized by low crop yield, mainly fine cereals (rice and wheat) and high interregional variation. The state is also divided into 9 agro-climatic zones. The eastern region of Uttar Pradesh consists of three agro-climatic zones.

According to 2011 census, the population of the UP was about 200 million, which covered about 16.50% of Indian total population and have about 6.9% of total area of the country.
