Farmer’s economy

Pangasius farming has developed rapidly and significantly contributed to the Vietnamese economy. However, a decline in the profit margin of the growing-out farms due to an increase in production costs has been frequently reported. The paper will be useful for the farmers, local authorities as well as extension services in improving the cost efficiency of the sector.

In this study, the essential oil from the leaves of bael tree was extracted and added as an additional income to the farmers along with its fruits, timber, fodder and other domestic usages. The essential oil yield from the leaves of bael tree was obtained by hydro-distillation. A socio-economic survey in the Bisht Village and Kirsali village of district Dehradun, Uttarakhnad was conducted and the existing role of bael tree in rural agroforestry and economy was also assessed.

In Haveri district of Karnataka, maize is preferred by the farmers. Hence, the impact of installation of maize extraction factory on maize growers economy has been studied using the randomly selected maize growers and primary data was collected from sample farmers by personal interview method with the help of pre-tested schedule. The data have been analyzed using partial budgeting technique and simple tabular analysis.

Sugarcane Farming is one of the important segments of Indian agriculture because it is raw material to sugar industry for which India ranks second in the world economy. Under the depleting groundwater scenario, productivity of high water requiring crops like sugarcane can only be sustained using water-economizing techniques like drip irrigation. The study was carried out to assess the extent of use of drip irrigation system in sugarcane crop. For this purpose, 240 sugarcane growers in three districts Telangana state were taken as study respondents.

Aquaculture plays a major role in augmenting food production, levelihood and thereby the economy of a country. Andhra Pradesh is the leading state in cultured shrimp production, value and exports. Major part of Indian economy is contributed by agriculture and its allied sector. Around 56 per cent of population directly or indirectly depends upon agriculture. The GDP contribution of the agriculture and allied sector is 17.2 per cent, but this sector is facing many challenges to flourish. Out of these challenges lesser crop productivity and inefficient use of fertilizers are the main challenges faced by Indian farmers. Jute cultivation is a labour-intensive activity. Small and marginal farmers extensively practice high density sowing (HDS) by broadcasting jute seed. The seed spices constitute an important group of agricultural commodities, playing an important role in our national economy. During 2012-13 share of seed spices in India‟s spice area and production is 7.02% and 11.82% respectively. This study was conducted during the year 2016-17.
