  • Open-field farming involves successive major processes such as preparation of soil, planting the seed, adding pesticides and fertilizers, irrigation, cultivation, and harvest. The main aim of all processes is to achieve maximum yield out of the available agricultural landscape. It is necessary to collect geo-referenced descriptive data on soil characteristics, such as soil penetration resistance and electrical conductivity before starting all these processes.

  • The world population is increasing at a steady pace. Since the population is growing so the demand for food supply is also rising. To develop more food, more land is necessary while prime agricultural lands are getting to be scarce and costly. Vertical farming utilizes less distance for growing more food. Unlike traditional farming, he also came up with new farming techniques such as Hydroponics and Aeroponics which has high production of food at less space and more yields (which takes less time).

  • Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is world’s most widely cultivated food grain crop. At initial decades of 21st century, one probability of a great famine appeared in the world due to long drought in tropics and subtropics and at the same time it appeared more dangerously because of the climate change threat. System of Wheat Intensification (SWI) which is somewhat based on the fundamental principles of System of Rice Intensification (SRI) is a new wheat cultivation technique which might act as a significantly new weapon as a part of climate-smart farming.

  • In India 82 per cent of farmers are small and marginal farmers whose acreage is less than 2 ha. These farmers play a pivotal role in Indian economy. Majority of these farmers practicing mono crop cultivation. Discouraging results of monoculturing (non-integrated system) on crop productivity, led to the development of integrated farming system (IFS) strategy which enables adequate income, employment, nutritional security and eco friendly. IFS has many advantages over the monoculturing.

  • An experiment was carried out in the Experimental Farm, Department of Horticulture, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat during 2017-18, to study their variation in concrete recovery and chemical constituents. The experiment was laid out with six tuberose cultivars in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. The six cultivars were Arka Nirantara, Shringar, Hyderabad Single, Vaibhav, Suvasini and Mexican Double. Aromatic variation of six cultivars were observed and found that single cultivars contain more concrete % than double cultivars.
