Mitral regurgitation (MR) affects 2%–3% of the global population. The rising incidence of degenerative causes in developing countries leads to an increase in the number of surgeries for degenerative MR. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the safety, feasibility, and effectiveness of minimally invasive mitral repair (MIMR) using artificial chordae in complex cases of mitral valve regurgitation.

Ebook "Artemisia annua - Pharmacology and biotechnology" is an effective antimalarial agent, particularly for multi-drug resistant and cerebral malaria. However, the concentration of artemisinin in the plant is very low. Because the chemical synthesis of artemisinin is complicated and not economically feasible in view of the poor yield of the drug, the intact plant remains the only viable source of artemisinin production. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the concentration of artemisinin in A. annua to reduce the cost of artemisinin based antimalarial drugs.

Increasing column/tubing aspect ratio has been shown in a feasibility study to improve column efficiency when operating in reversed phase mode. This paper contains a thorough investigation on how increases in mobile phase flow and centrifugal force field affect stationary phase retention and column efficiency (as measured by the resolution between adjacent peaks) for columns wound with rectilinear tubing of different aspect ratio.

Percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) has been demonstrated to be effective in the treatment of osteoporotic fracture. The bilateral pedicular approach is the most frequently used method. However, unilateral PVP is becoming increasingly more attractive for surgeons because of its numerous benefits, including lower radiation exposure, less tissue injury, and less bone cement leakage.

The increase in population and reduction of available land and water resources are major concern for agriculture to meet food requirement. The possible growth in agriculture can be achieved by increasing productivity through soil, water and nutrient management supported by an effective use of modern technology like nanotechnology. The small size, high specific surface area and reactivity of nano fertilizers compared to bulk fertilizers may increase the solubility, diffusion and availability of nutrients to plants and enhance crop productivity.

The use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture sector has gradually increased in recent past. Increase in demand of chemical fertilizers leads to increased market prices, market demand and consumption of chemical fertilizers which is not economically feasible for sustainable agriculture. Moreover, excessive use of chemical fertilizers to increase agriculture production leaving bad to worse impact on environment and human health. Hence, concept of using rhizobia as a biofertilizer is a promising source in terms of environment health and cost effectiveness.

Based on the increase in tensile strength and toughness (43% and 30%, respectively), the feasibility of the hybrid nanofibers containing Single-walled carbon nanotubes and Nylon 66 on reinforcing cementitious materials has been clarified. The well-linking effect of nanofibers in the microstructure of hardened cement pastes has been found by scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis and well-explained for the increase in mechanical strengths. Besides, field emission transmission electron microscope (FE-TEM) analysis has also been conducted to analyze the properties of the hybrid nanofibers.

Sheath rot disease caused by S. oryzae has emerged as one of the major diseases of rice inflicting yield losses ranging from 9.6 to 85% depending on the weather conditions. Pesticides are mostly used for its management and application of these chemicals over a long period may result in development of resistance, pesticide residue risk, health and environmental issues which necessitates an alternative economically feasible eco-friendly method for its management.

Currently more than 20 per cent of the world’s irrigated land is salt affected. Of that about 60 per cent are sodic soils, warranting attention for efficient, inexpensive and environmentally feasible amelioration. An incubation study was performed to study the influence of amendments on physico-chemical and biological properties of sodic soil. Gypsum + Green manure @ 6.5 t ha-1 , Distillery spentwash (DSW)@ 5 lakhs liter-1 , Green leaf manure (GLM) @ 12.5 t ha-1were used as amendments for the reclamation of sodic soil by adopting standardized reclamation procedure.

The demand for foods with specific functional characteristics and nutritional balance is increasing. This study was investigated for the feasibility of symbiotic yoghurt with Lactobacillus brevis as probiotics. This yoghurt was prepared by addition of natural fruits (mango or banana). Hereby the drinkable yoghurt might act as a good source of calcium, Vitamin D and other nutrients. The incorporation of fruits also enhances the flavour of yoghurt establishing the need to optimize the level of inclusion of these fruits in yoghurt.

This paper found that the increase in housing prices can significantly promote the consumption of urban households with housing in China. And the promotion effect increases with family’s net finance asset, i.e., the richer the families are, the more their spending rises. For the urban families without housing, the increase in housing prices inhibit their consumption. When housing prices rise by 1%, the consumption drop by 0.748%. The mechanism is that the increase in housing prices reduce the households’ marginal propensity to consume by higher precautionary saving motivation.
