Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis is a well-known, but rare, side effect of some vaccines, or symptom following a febrile illness. In this case, we highlight the need for a regulatory framework to assist clinicians and patients with coverage of treatment for acute disseminated encephalomyelitis.

To compare the clinical value of recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rhG-CSF) and pegylated rhG-CSF(PEG-rhG-CSF) in early-stage breast cancer (EBC) patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy, compare the efficacy of PEG-rhG-CSF with different dose and explore the timing of rhG-CSF rescue treatment.

Sweet syndrome (SS) is an acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis that is histologically characterized by an infiltration of the dermis by neutrophils. A 12-year-old adolescent female patient recently diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia presented with fever and was hospitalized for antibiotic management after 22 days of being treated with a treatment protocol based on daunorubicin, all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), and prophylaxis with dexamethasone, the patient developed erythematous skin lesions located mostly on the extremities.

Clinical guidelines recommending the use of myeloid growth factors are largely based on the prescribed chemotherapy regimen. The guidelines suggest that oncologists consider patient-specific characteristics when prescribing granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) prophylaxis; however, a mechanism to quantify individual patient risk is lacking.

The responses of immunological factors to different subtypes of Kawasaki disease (KD) remain poorly understood. Methods: We recruited 388 patients with KD, 160 patients with infectious febrile disease and 85 normal children who served as control subjects. Both the levels and percentages of T lymphocyte subsets, natural killer cells (NK cells) and B cells were analyzed via flow cytometry.

Chikungunya fever is a self-limiting viral fever caused by an arbovirus transmitted to human through mosquitoes. The sudden onset of very high fever along with rash and severe arthralgia are main symptoms. It still persists as major public health problem. Aim of the study is to know the seroprevalence of chikungunya infection in a tertiary-care hospital in Chamarajanagar, Karnataka, India.

Lipegfilgrastim is a novel glyco-pegylated granulocyte-colony stimulating factor in development for neutropenia prophylaxis in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. This phase III, double-blind, randomized, active-controlled, noninferiority trial compared the efficacy and safety of lipegfilgrastim versus pegfilgrastim in chemotherapy-naïve breast cancer patients receiving doxorubicin/docetaxel chemotherapy.

Fever has become a common presenting complaint in the developing world. The symptoms and differential diagnosis of the most common fevers in the tropics that making an accurate clinical diagnosis was difficult without laboratory confirmation. These fevers also lead to high morbidity and mortality. But the exact burden of each infection varies from region to region. Due to high prevalence of local individual diseases the prioritization of the differential diagnosis of a clinical syndrome of acute undifferentiated febrile illness (AUFI) was needed.

Scrub typhus (ST) is an acute febrile illness caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi, and is associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. ST has been considered as one of the most emerging infections in India as shown by the increase in the number of clinically diagnosed patients in various states except Uttar Pradesh. The present study was undertaken to look for ST amongst patients presenting with suggestive pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO) at a tertiary care centre in Uttar Pradesh.

Vector borne diseases have gained importance in recent decade due to the increasing frequency of sporadic episodes occurring in both endemic and non-endemic areas. The similar clinical presentation and the acute febrile nature results in misdiagnosis often and increases the risk of transmission and morbidity in the vulnerable populations. A study was undertaken to check the prevalence of Chikungunya virus among the febrile patients presenting with body ache or mayalgia between June 2014 and July 2015.
