A small rhacophorid, Philautus petilus known from only the female holotype, is recorded for the first time outside of the type locality in Laos. Three specimens, containing the first known males of the species, were collected from Muong Nhe Nature Reserve in Dien Bien Province, northwestern Vietnam. The Vietnamese specimens are identified as P. petilus based on morphological similarities with the holotype from Laos. In addition, our molecular data verify the transfer of this species from Philautus to the genus Theloderma.

The aim of the present study is to provide morphometric relationships for the Mediterranean wide-eyed flounder Bothus podas (Delaroche, 1809), to identify possible sexual dimorphism, and to determine the feeding habits and the functional role of the species in the ecosystem. Sampling was carried out during a trawl survey off the coast of northern Crete in early May of 2015. A total of 425 specimens were examined (175 males and 250 females; total length (TL) range: 6.2–13.5 cm and 6.0–15.1 cm, respectively).

Zercon ostovani sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on female specimens collected from Eram Botanical Garden in Fars Province, southwestern Iran. The similarities and differences between related species within the same genus are also discussed. Members of the family Zerconidae are poorly known in Iran (Nemati et al., 2018). Systematically, some mesostigmatic mite families (e.g., Ameroseiidae, Ascidae, Laelapidae, Macrochelidae, Parasitidae, and Phytoseiidae) have been extensively studied in Iran (Kamali et al., 2001).

Parasteatoda aequipeiformissp. nov. (male and female) is described from Wuling Mountain, China. Distribution data, detailed morphological characteristics, and illustrations of body and genital organs are presented. The genus Parasteatoda was established by Archer (1946). Currently, 44 species have been reported from Asia, including 26 species from China (World Spider Catalog, 2018). While examining specimens collected from Wuling Mountain, a new species was found and is described in the present paper.

To better determine the ecological variation (body shape and structure) of the Vieja Azul (Andinoacara rivulatus; syn.: Aequidens rivulatus) in northwest Ecuador (Los Ríos Province), 300 specimens of both sexes (150 male and 150 female) were collected from 3 different locations, one from a wild production system and two from fish farm populations in the Quevedo River. Twelve meristic, 26 traditional morphometric, and 32 truss measurements, among 25 anatomical landmarks, were determined.

Gambusia holbrooki Girard, 1859 has established very strong populations in freshwater resources in Turkey after being introduced into Amik Lake (Hatay/Antakya) at the beginning of the 1920s. In this study, it was aimed to determine the female:male ratios and length-weight relationships of G. holbrooki populations in Turkey, which are considered as a threat, especially for endemic species. G. holbrooki specimen were sampled at total of 66 locations, including 39 lentic and 27 lotic locations, between 2016 and 2017. The female:male ratio was 1:0.39 for all of the investigated localities.

In this study, the first case of aberrant coloration, namely xanthochroism or xanthism, in the thinlip grey mullet, Chelon ramada (Teleostei: Mugilidae), was reported. The specimen was caught by a purse seiner in November 2019, in İzmir Bay, in the Aegean Sea, and was a female, with mature ovaries, which indicated that it had been in spawning migration or activity on the sampling date.

Gene expression variation is a key underlying factor influencing phenotypic variation, and can occur via cis- or trans-regulation. To understand the role of cis- and trans-regulatory variation on population divergence in chicken, we developed reciprocal crosses of two chicken breeds, White Leghorn and Cornish Game, which exhibit major differences in body size and reproductive traits, and used them to determine the degree of cis versus trans variation in the brain, liver, and muscle tissue of male and female 1-day-old specimens.

Odorrana fengkaiensis was recorded for the first time from Vietnam based on a new amphibian collection from Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh provinces. Sequences of the specimens from Vietnam were identical to those of the paratypes of O. fengkaiensis from China. In addition, O. trankieni was newly recorded from Hoa Binh and Bac Giang provinces, Northern Vietnam, including the first description of female individuals. Genetic divergence between O. trankieni from Vietnam and its sister species, O. nasuta from China, ranged from 1.42 to 2.66%.

Among 14 species of forest skinks (genus Sphenomorphus) in Vietnam, seven were recorded from southern part of the country. Shea's forest skink, S. sheai, was described from Kon Tum Plateau based on a single female. Similarly, the tridigital forest skink, S. tridigitus, was also described based on a single putrid and desiccated specimen found dead on a road in Bach Ma; specimens collected recently in Laos did not fully agree with the original description.

Anophthalmia is recorded for the first time in Terapont heraps. The specimen was caught by trawl net at Versova, northwest coast of India. Mature female Terapont heraps weighing 58.78 gm and 13.06 cm total length. Comparison of anophthalmic specimen with a normal specimen could not show significant variation in morphometric and meristic traits and the deformity may be congenital which has not affected growth and physiology of fish.

Urinary tract infections (UTI) are the second most common infections encountered in clinical practice and is associated with a high rate of morbidity and economic burden. Knowledge of the local antibiotic resistance patterns will help in providing empirical therapy and helps in prevention of resistance. This was a retrospective study conducted from January 2017 to December 2018 at a medical college in South India. Samples received included mid-stream clean catch urine, Catheterized urine, suprapubic aspirate.

Dermatophytosis refers to superficial fungal infection of keratinized tissues, caused by group of keratinophilic dermatophytes. The prevalence of dermatophyte infection varies with different geographic area and climatic conditions. It is one of the common fungal infection but in recent times it is one of the neglected disease. The present study was aimed to assess the clinicomycological profile of dermatophytosis to identify the various infecting dermatophyte species and to compare clinical diagnosis with KOH microscopy and culture.
