Femoral offset

To give initial results in the restoration of some important anatomical parameters (femoral neck angle, distance from the center of the crest to the femoral axis (offset), and limb deviation) in the standard cementless total hip replacement in the treatment of aseptic necrosis of the femoral head.

Preoperative templating in total hip arthroplasty (THA) is mandatory to achieve appropriate offset and leg length equality. However, templating methods using the contralateral hip might be susceptible to errors resulting from side-differences in the femoral morphology.

Inaccurate projection on standard pelvic radiographs leads to the underestimation of femoral offset—a critical determinant of postoperative hip function—during total hip arthroplasty (THA) templating.

Bilateral osseous ankylosed hips secondary to ankylosis spondylitis (AS) are relatively rare but impact the quality of life hugely. Cementless total hip arthroplasty (THA) for bilateral osseous ankylosed hips with AS is a challenging procedure.

Bi-modular stems were introduced in primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) to enable better control of the femoral offset, leg length, and hip stability. Despite numerous reports on modular femoral neck fractures, some designs are still marketed worldwide.

This study aimed to investigate the characteristic deformities of the hip in multiple hereditary exostoses patients (MHE) and its association with the hip impingement syndrome. The results suggest that the characteristic deformities represented by coxa valga in the MHE hip act as an offset for FAI symptoms, on the contrary, act as a trigger for IFI symptoms.

The aim of this study is (1) to compare joint line (JL) restoration and clinical outcomes in revision TKA based on the contemporary prosthesis type and (2) to determine the restoration of posterior condylar offset (PCO) according to the use of a femoral offset stem.

In obese patients, total hip arthroplasty (THA) can be technically demanding with increased perioperative risks. The aim of this prospective cohort study is to evaluate the effect of body mass index (BMI) on radiological restoration of femoral offset (FO) and leg length as well as acetabular cup positioning.

Gait kinematics after total hip replacement only partly explain the differences in the joint moments in the frontal plane between hip osteoarthritis patients after hip replacement and healthy controls. The goal of this study was to determine if total hip replacement surgery affects radiological leg alignment (Hip-Knee-Shaft-Angle, femoral offset, Neck-Shaft-Angle and varus/valgus alignment) and which of these parameters can explain the joint moments, additionally to the gait kinematics.
