The role of complex surface defect on the magnet at the (110) surface of bismuth sodium titanate (Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3) was discussed based on the first-principles calculation. The first-principle calculations for various types of surface defects exhibited the existence of magnetic moments for selected chemical and position defects.

Ebook "π-Electron magnetism from molecules to magnetic materials" deal with organic molecule-based magnetic materials in which the unpaired spins of the building-block units are located on rc-orbitals conferring special characteristics that differentiate them from materials based on transition metal complexes. The first two chapters discuss the most representative examples of purely organic 3-D magnets as well as the through-space ferromagnetic interactions responsible of the bulk.

Ebook "Molecular spintronics: From organic semiconductors to self-assembled monolayers" will focus on the study of organic semiconductors spintronic devices, here Alq3-based spin valves. We will investigate magnetoresistance (MR) effects at room temperature using conventional ferromagnetic (FM) materials. These investigations were done wishing to improve the understanding on the two interfaces and disentangle their contributions on the spin polarization properties of the devices.

"Standard Test Methods for Permeability of Weakly Magnetic Materials" cover four procedures for determination of the permeability [relative permeability]2 of materials having a permeability not exceeding 6.0. Materials typically tested by these methods such as austenitic stainless steels may be weakly ferromagnetic. That is, the magnetic permeability is dependent on the magnetic field strength.

This test method provides a means for determination of the impedance permeability of ferromagnetic materials under the condition of sinusoidal current (sinusoidal H) excitation. Test specimens in the form of laminated toroidal cores, tape-wound toroidal cores, and link-type laminated cores having uniform cross sections and closed flux paths (no air gaps) are used. The method is intended as a means for determining the magnetic performance of ferromagnetic strip having a thickness less than or equal to 0.025 in. [0.635 mm].

Magnetic anisotropy plays an important role in determining the magnetic functionality of thin film based electronic devices. We present here, the first systematic study of the correlation between magnetoresistance (MR) response in organic spin valves (OSVs) and magnetic anisotropy of the bottom ferromagnetic electrode over a wide temperature range (10 Ke350 K).

The longitudinal-field muon-spin relaxation (LF-mSR) technique was employed to study the spin correlations in (Mn,Fe)2(P,Si) compounds above the ferromagnetic transition temperature (TC). The (Mn,Fe)2(P,Si) compound under study is found to show itinerant magnetism.

Multiferroic materials refer to a class of materials which possess the intrinsic coupling of two or more ferroic orders (ferroelectric, ferroelastic, and ferromagnetic). Among them, magnetoelectric materials exhibiting both ferroelectric and ferromagnetic characteristics have received much attention due to their great potential in multifunctional applications such as spintronics, memory, and sensors.

The most distinctive property of ferromagnetism is the observation of hysteresis loops. It is the feature showing the fact that ferromagnetism can remain as a nonzero magnetization after applying an external field and then removing it. This paper aims to introduce one method of using finite element methodology to calculate demagnetization energy, hence to obtain the optimal configuration of magnetic material.

In the paper "Magnetic Properties and Impedance Spectroscopic Studies of Multiferroic Bi1-xNdxFeO3 Materials", we report the Nd-doping effect on structural, magnetic, and complex impedance properties of BFO materials. With the presence of Nd, the crystal structure of BFO was changed. Weak ferromagnetism was observed with an enhancement of spontaneous magnetization due to the collapse of the spin cycloid structure.

CuxMg1.xFe2O4 nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by coprecipitation. The samples were calcined at 900 oC for 3 h and X-ray diffraction analysis showed that Cu0.5Mg0.5Fe2O4 had a single phase cubic spinel structure, while formation of secondary phase of Fe2O3 was observed in XRD patterns of CuFe2O4, MgFe2O4. The saturation magnetization (Ms) of Cu0.5Mg0.5Fe2O4 is in between the saturation magnetization values of CuFe2O4 and MgFe2O4 nanoparticles, CuFe2O4 is a ferromagnetic material, while MgFe2O4 and Cu0.5Mg0.5Fe2O4 show superparamagnetic behavior.

The critical properties of the paramagnetic-ferromagnetic (PM-FM) phase transitions in manganites pose an important fundamental problem. On the other hand, the vast variability of competing mechanisms, which may influence the magnetic ordering, may also yield other types of paramagnetic-ferromagnetic transitions for different systems in this class of materials.

In the present work, Co impurities were introduced to host NBTO materials through the sol-gel method. Results demonstrated the reduction in the optical band gap of pure and Co-doped NBTO, and that the observed room temperature ferromagnetism in Co-doped NBTO materials originates as an intrinsic phenomenon.
