Apogamy is a unique asexual reproduction in the ferns, in which somatic cells of gametophytes go through dedifferentiation and then differentiate into haploid sporophytes bypassing fertilization. Restricted to the lack of genomic information, molecular mechanisms of apogamy have remained unclear.

This study included 22 women in intracytoplasmic sperm injection cycle. The expression of olfactory target molecules in cumulus cells surrounding the growing and mature oocytes was evaluated by Western blotting and real-time polymerase chain reaction. Additionally, integrated bioinformatics analyses were carried out and 6 ectopic olfactory receptors were selected for further evaluation. The initiation of olfactory transduction cascade in cumulus cells of competent oocytes was confirmed by analyzing the expression of adenylyl cyclase type 3 and olfactory market protein.

Despite recent work to characterize gene expression changes associated with larval development in oysters, the mechanism by which the larval shell is first formed is still largely unknown. In Crassostrea gigas, this shell forms within the first 24 h post fertilization, and it has been demonstrated that changes in water chemistry can cause delays in shell formation, shell deformations and higher mortality rates. In this study, we use the delay in shell formation associated with exposure to CO2-acidified seawater to identify genes correlated with initial shell deposition.

Egg quality can be defined as the egg ability to be fertilized and subsequently develop into a normal embryo. Previous research has shed light on factors that can influence egg quality. Large gaps however remain including a comprehensive view of what makes a bad egg. Initial development of the embryo relies on maternallyinherited molecules, such as transcripts, deposited in the egg during its formation.

In points of annual crop farming and close to residential the contribution of inorganic fertilizers to the total concentration of nitrate was estimated, based on the δ 15N-NO3 values, to be as high as more than 60% and the contribution of water waste was around 35-40%. This is the first time isotopic signature of nitrogen-15 in nitrate (δ15N-NO3) was applied as a tool to assess and identify sources of the nutrient in aquatic environment.

The impact of the long–term fertilization alone and in combination with FYM for 30 years was evaluated on microbial and enzymatic activities after rice under a continuing longterm fertility experiment in rice-wheat cropping system initiated in kharif, 1984 at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. The experiment comprised 14 treatments having absolute control, individual N and its combination with P and K at varying levels alone and with FYM.

In the India, three to four cutting are possible, typical yield distribution is 30-35 percent in the first cutting, 35-40 percent in the second cutting and 20-25 percent in subsequent cutting. More consistently high quality forage is obtained by grazing, green chopping and ensiling early spring growth to stimulate recovery growth, fertilize with nitrogen immediately following the initial cutting (Smith et al., 2005).

Excessive application of chemical fertilizers to attain higher yield has not only reduced the nutrient use efficiency but has also adversely affected the soil productivity and environmental stability. For this reason, immediate conversion to organic farming would drastically reduce production at initial phases which is of major concern to feed the growing population. This article is written with prime focus to notify on the yield variability under different integrated nutrient management approaches from research conducted worldwide.

Sustainable Sugarcane Initiative (SSI) is one of the advanced methods of sugarcane cultivation technique which involves the use of less seed setts, water, land, labour and optimum utilization of fertilizers to achieve maximum potential yield. The SSI is an alternative to conventional method of sugarcane cultivation. The field demonstrations were conducted in farmer’s field at five different locations to study the effect of sustainable sugarcane initiative and conventional sugarcane cultivation under drip irrigation system during 2017–2018.
