This research deals with the influences of macro, meso and micro steel-smooth fibers on tensile and compressive properties of strain-hardening fiber-reinforced concretes (SFCs). The different sizes, indicated by length/diameter ratio, of steel-smooth fiber added in plain matrix (Pl) were as follows: 30/0.3 for the macro (Ma), 19/0.2 for the meso (Me) and 13/0.2 for the micro fiber (Mi). All SFCs were used the same fiber volume fraction of 1.5%.

This paper presents the comparative results of a current study on unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) matrix composites processed by filament winding method, with cotton spun yarn of different mass irregularities and two different volume fractions. Physical and mechanical properties were measured, namely ultimate stress, stiffness, elongation%. The mechanical properties of the composites increased significantly with the increase in the fiber volume fraction in agreement with the Counto model.

We added CaCO3 whiskers into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-steel hybrid fiber system to obtain multiscale hybrid fiber reinforced cement mortar (MHFRC). Three-point bending (3-p-b) tests were carried out on 64 notched beams to investigate fracture behavior of MHFRC. Double K Fracture Criterion (DKFC) and Work Fracture Method (WFM) were employed to obtain fracture parameters. Influence of the volume fraction of CaCO3 whiskers, content of PVA-steel hybrid fiber and water/ cement ratio (w/c) on fracture parameters are discussed.

Impact resistance and strength performance of concrete mixtures with 0.36 and 0.46 water–cement ratios made with polypropylene and silica fume are examined. Polypropylene fiber with 12-mm length and four volume fractions of 0%, 0.2%, 0.3% and 0.5% are used. In pre-determined mixtures, silica fume is used as cement replacement material at 8% weight of cement. The results show that incorporating polypropylene fibers improves mechanical properties.
