  • Zebrafish can faithfully regenerate injured fins through the formation of a blastema, a mass of proliferative cells that can grow and develop into the lost body part. After amputation, various cell types contribute to blastema formation, where each cell type retains fate restriction and exclusively contributes to regeneration of its own lineage.

  • Differential gene expression can be translated into differing phenotypic traits. Especially during embryogenesis, specific gene expression networks regulate the development of different body structures. Cichlid fishes, with their impressive phenotypic diversity and propensity to radiate, are an emerging model system in the genomics era.

  • Objective: This dissertation explores the influence of pectoral fin structures at different swimming modes on a robotic fish's locomotion behavior; Some objectives are addressed to achieve the mentioned aim as follows: Firstly, new designs based on bio-inspired pectoral fin types are constructed. Secondly, to describe fin deformation and body part movement, novel dynamically mathematical models are developed.

  • The teleost fish medaka (Oryzias latipes) is currently used by laboratories worldwide as a model for many human diseases, including bone diseases. Our research group focuses on a medaka model for osteoporosis. To characterize the bone indexes of diseased animals, the bone development indexes of healthy wild-type fish are required for comparative analysis. Thus, this study examined the developmental and bone development indexes of wild-type medaka larvae at 11 and 16 days of age, the two developmental stages selected for the analysis of diseased patterns in osteoporosis-induced animals.

  • A CEO’s influence on the board can reduce the board’s effectiveness in monitoring managers. The greater a CEO’s influence on the board, the less likely the board is to suspect irregularities that a more independent board may have caught. Concerns about a CEO’s influence on the board have led the NYSE to propose that each board have a nominating or corporate governance committee that is comprised solely of independent directors.

  • For the latest twenty to thirty years, a significant number of AUVs has been created for the solving of wide spectrum of scientific and applied tasks of ocean development and research. For the short time period the AUVs have shown the efficiency at performance of complex search and inspection works and opened a number of new important applications. Initially the information about AUVs had mainly review-advertising character but now more attention is paid to practical achievements, problems and systems technologies....
