This study proposes a solution that allows quick test firing and conserves rounds when directly testing ground artillery targets via the VRP712/S data transmission systems developed by the group that serves the Viettel defence industry. As a result, the authors have built a software system for quick test firing at the ground artillery company.

This study investigated the effect of graphene content on intumescent coating properties. Intumescent coatings contained Plextol R4152 as a binder, APP-PER-MEL as a flame retardant additive system, TiO2, Al(OH)3 as fillers, and other additive. The fire resistance test and furnace test were conducted. TGA, DSC, and SEM were used to assess the coating and char layers. The water resistance and mechanical properties of the coatings were examined.

This paper presents the results of applying geoinformatics technology in early detection of forest fires in Vietnam. Two methods were used to detect forest fires, including (1) Using ground monitoring equipment: applying algorithms to detect smoke and fire from the series of "forest fire" recorded by IP Camera, characteristics of smoke, such as color, movement and expandable properties used in fire detection; accuracy of algorithm for fire detection with video frames is 97% and with image frames from digital cameras is 100%; Ground monitoring equipment can detect 84.

This article outlines an approach for manipulating furnace temperature and pressure via multiple PID controllers, each of which controls a zone according to the heating curve to maintain all control variables within the allowable ranges during combustion. Based on the assessment criteria in TCVN 9383:2012, experimental results when burning fireproof steel and wood doors validate the effectiveness of this control method

While it is recognised that knitted fabrics may have their place in firefighting PPC, especially for undergarments, from the point of view of fire performance, strength and presentation, woven fabric constructions appear to be more suitable for work wear applications. Hence, this study is concerned with developing and testing a range of functional, woven Station Wear fabrics designed to enhance flame protection, durability and thermo-physiological comfort properties. In trying to improve all three aspects, a compromise in the properties of fabrics developed would be very likely.

This study focuses on the improvement in fire performance, and flame retardancy (FR) properties of chopped basalt fiberreinforced acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) composites. For this purpose, different amounts of aluminum diethyl phosphinate (AlPi) compound (5, 10, and 15 wt%) were incorporated in the composites. The FR properties of the composites were examined via limiting oxygen index (LOI), UL-94 standard, and mass loss calorimeter tests.

Managing radioactive waste must be carried out within a strict framework and with a constant requirement to protect human beings and the environment. A safety management of the radioactive material or waste (RAM or RW) unavoidably involves transportation activities by using robust safe and reliable packaging system.

The production of cement and traditional fired clay bricks consumes intensive energy and inversely affects the environment. In addition, a huge quantity of solid waste materials such as rice husk ash and fly ash (FA) are generated from both industrial and agricultural activities. This study investigates the use of unground rice husk ash (URHA) and FA for manufacturing unfired building bricks. FA was used as a cement substitute (15%, 30%, and 50%), whereas URHA was used as a chippings replacement (5%, 10%, and 15%) in the brick mixtures.

The paper deals with observing the behaviour of concrete composites with addition of fibres under ambient and elevated temperature with the aim to determine the mechanical properties of materials. The experimental tests were conducted on three selected concrete composites which differ in a type and content of fibrous reinforcement used. The experimental work carried out was divided into several phases. First of all it was necessary to leave the produced specimens aging and drying in order to minimize the risk of unexpected damage caused by concrete spalling during heating.

The high temperatures of fires affect the physical and chemical properties of the concrete and thus influence its mechanical properties. This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on the compressive strength at high temperatures of high-strength fibre concretes. The influence of the high temperatures on the physical and chemical changes of the concrete was also analysed by Thermo Gravimetric Analysis/Differential Thermal Analysis (TGA/DTA), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive Spectrometry (SEM/EDS).

The concrete material in structures is likely to be exposed to elevated temperatures during fires. In this paper, an experimental investigation is carried out to study the effect of different exposure temperatures and times on the mechanical properties of ordinary concrete. Cylinders with a diameter of 100 mm and a height of 200 mm were used as concrete specimens, which were tested at the three elevated temperatures of 200, 400 and 600°C for various times from 1 to 6 h.

In this paper, some major influencing factors and spalling of concrete at elevated temperatures will be first reviewed. Limitations of current test setups for fire test, with a focus on the questionable reliability of thermal boundary condition and deformation capturing, will then be discussed to highlight the need for improved setups.

As Carlo (2001) comments in a recent review, “research on cross-language transfer has made some progress with regard to the issue of identifying particular skills that appear susceptible to transfer from first- to second-language reading. However, questions remain concerning the specification of the cognitive mechanisms responsible for transfer as well as the developmental parameters that constrain transfer effects.

A sequential explanatory mixed methods approach was chosen for this study as the intention was to use the qualitative results to ‘assist in explaining and interpreting the findings of a primarily quantitative study’ (Cresswell, 2003, p 215). Scores from a current IELTS Test (Test 2) and an earlier one (Test 1) provided quantitative data for analysis. Interviews were conducted after Test 2 with almost all of the participants. A combination of both quantitative and qualitative approaches such as this is justified by many researchers in human research.

Automatic sprinklers are highly effective and reliable elements of total system designs for fire protection in buildings. In 2003-2007, sprinklers operated in 93% of all reported structure fires large enough to activate sprinklers, excluding buildings under construction and buildings without sprinklers in the fire area. When sprinklers operate, they are effective 97% of the time, resulting in a combined performance of operating effectively in 91% of all reported fires where sprinklers were present in the fire area and fire was large enough to activate them.
