Present study was aimed to investigate the effects of sub lethal concentrations of dimethoate, an organophosphate pesticide in juvenile common carps (Cyprinus carpio var. communis) (10 ± 2 g). The present study is an attempt with an objective to achieve the survival of the male fish even after dissection and surgery is done corroborative to human surgery. Three experiments on males after dissection were stitched with absorbable surgical thread (T1); stitched with normal cotton thread (T2); and (T3) was the control was unstitched. Fishes were successfully operated for removal of testes. Swimming behaviour and feed intake were very normal in T1 and T2 while abnormal and reduced feed intake in T3.

This study aims to assess Vietnamese consumer behaviour towards fish sauce product. It consists of two experiments. In the first experiment, consumer concept was explored using word association method. It was performed on 300 Vietnamese consumers with the prompt word as “fish sauce”. The data were analysed by a triangulation method. The results evoke six factors associated with fish sauce as Sensory Appeal, Health, Price, Convenience, Traditional Value, Quality and Safety.

This paper assesses the risk of lead and cadmium heavy metals on Cyprinus carpio in laboratory conditions. The research determined the 96 hours LC50 value of lead nitrate and cadmium nitrate in the fish Cyprinus carpio. This study combined the ecological toxicology test with the ecological hazard description to determine the acute toxicity effects of lead and cadmium on Cyprinus carpio. Ecological toxicology took place in 96 hours with test concentration of 0.25; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; 2.0 mg/l on lead and 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; 2.0; 3.0 mg/l on cadmium.

Using demand-feeders, time-place learning association of food was investigated in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in 2 small raceways (TR1 and TR2). In order for the fish to be visually identified, they were tagged individually and their behaviour and distribution were monitored by cameras.

The Minamata poisoning episode provided local researchers with the hard evidence that first linked mercury discharges to its bioaccumulation in the environment. Cats in Minamata were the first to show signs of mercury poisoning, although at the time the unusual behaviour exhibited by the cats was unexplained. The disease was known locally as “dancing cat disease” in reference to the uncontrollable muscle spasms and tremors seen in the poisoned cats.

A key goal of this research project was to assess the scope of coverage in shared print and shared digital repositories, with a view to understanding how the combined resources might enable a local reduction in redundant print inventory. For this reason, it was important to understand how much of the print storage collection in ReCAP is duplicated—or is likely to be duplicated—in the HathiTrust Digital Library. As of this writing, the shared ReCAP facility holds more than 8 million items contributed by the three partner libraries.
