Alcohol cessation in youth with daily drinking poses a risk of severe and life-threatening alcohol withdrawal. If unsupervised, alcohol withdrawal in heavy users can cause severe complications, such as seizures, delirium tremens, and death. We present the case of a teenager admitted at our pediatric center for the prevention of alcohol withdrawal using an innovative protocol, including a fixed-dosage benzodiazepine regimen.

Over the past two decades, prescription medication use for pain and depression increased dramatically. Most studies consider the early life course, despite a similar increase among those in later life. In this paper, we examine whether and how later life transitions may relate to changes in medication use.

Videolaryngoscopy is increasingly advocated as the standard intubation technique, while fibreoptic intubation is broadly regarded as the ‘gold standard’ for difficult airways. Traditionally, the training of these techniques is on patients, though manikins, simulators and cadavers are also used, with their respective limitations. In this study, we investigated whether the novel ‘Fix for Life’ (F4L) cadaver model is a suitable and realistic model for the teaching of these two intubation techniques to novices in airway management.

In this study, a hybrid group acceptance sampling plan is proposed for a truncated life test when the lifetime of a system follows Sushila distribution. The minimum group size and operating characteristics values are determined when we fixed the sample group size and testing time (to). The operating characteristics values according to various consumers’ risk requirement are presented. The results are explained with the tables and suitable examples.

The research data spread over a period of 41 years (1974 to 2015) were utilized to study the heritability, genetic and phenotypic correlation of life time performance traits. The mixed model analysing using LSML were used for estimation of variance components considering sire as a random effect, season and period of birth and age at first calving groups as fixed effects. Period of birth was highly significant on LTMY3, LTMY4, ALTMY, HL and PL whereas non-significant on BE. Season of birth did not influence any of the trait considered in the study.

If the random variable X denotes the lifetime of a unit, then the random variable XðtÞ ¼ ½t X Xj 6 t for a fixed t > 0 is known as the inactivity time. In this paper, based on the random variable X(t), a new class of life distributions, namely increasing variance inactivity time (IVIT) and the concept of inactivity coefficient of variation (ICV), are introduced. The closure properties of the IVIT class under some reliability operations, such as mixing, convolution and formation of coherent systems, are obtained.

Due to uncertainty in economy, business players examine different ways to ensure the survival and growth in the competitive atmosphere. In this scenario, the use of effective promotional tool and co-ordination among players enhance supply chain profit. The proposed model deals with the effect of quantity discount on an integrated inventory system for constantly deteriorating items with fix life time.

This paper pro -poses two ideas for adapting standard kinematic techniques to situations that do not naturally allow for the constraint of a fixed baseline. The first calls for extracting the information needed to resolve the integer ambiguity from the very data collected while the kinematic survey is in progress. The second idea addresses the use of the antenna exchange technique for mobile platforms where the original locations of the antennas are not likely to remain stationary during the physical exchange.

People talk lots of hokum about life coaching. Life coaching television programmes, magazines and newspaper columns range in quality from the powerful and inspirational through to the downright misleading and dangerous. True life coaching isn’t about some guru telling you how you should live. Yes, you may be tempted to bask in the comfort of an expert who can fix your life, your fashion sense, your body flaws and your emotional angst. But these fixes are too often like an elegant sticking plaster. Changes don’t last, unless a real change has come from deep within you.

Every American, old or young, should become familiar with the life of Washington; it will confirm their patriotism and strengthen their loyalty. Such a character will become an inspiration to them, eliciting nobler aims, and impelling to nobler deeds. Washington himself wrote to his step-son, who was in college: "You are now extending into that stage of life when good or bad habits are formed; when the mind will be turned to things useful and praiseworthy or to dissipation and vice.

Property, plant and equipment is carried at cost less accumulated depreciation. Assets manufactured by the Company include direct manufacturing costs, production overheads and interest charges incurred during the construction period. Government grants are deducted from the cost of the related asset. Depreciation is calculated using the straight-line method over the expected economic life of the asset. Depreciation of special tooling costs is based on the expected future economic benefit of these tools.

To a number of people who influenced my life and prepared me for the job of creating this book: First, my mother, who not only taught me to read, but allowed me to experience the enjoyment of reading. She opened up for me the vast knowledge available in libraries. Dr. Wade Moorehouse, retired Professor of Accounting and former Chairman of the Department of Business and Economics at California State University, Hayward, who many years ago, when I was an undergraduate student in his accounting course, stimulated my excitement about the accounting function.

Russell H. Conwell’s Acres of Diamonds have been spread all over the United States, time and care have made them more valuable, and now that they have been reset in black and white by their discoverer, they are to be laid in the hands of a multitude for their enrichment.
