The review study indicate the plots under zero tillage with bed planting (ZT-B) and zero tillage with flat planting (ZT-F) had nearly 28 and 26% higher total SOC stock compared with conventional tillage and bed planting (CT-B) (∼5.5 Mg ha−1) in the 0–5 cm soil layer. Plots under ZT-B and ZT–F contained higher total SOC stocks in the 0–5 and 5–15 cm soil layers than CT- B plots.

A study on evaluation of conservation agriculture and nitrogen management practices in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under maize ((Zea mays L.)-wheat cropping system was undertaken at the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. The present study was conducted during kharif, 2012 and 2013 at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi to find out the effect of moisture management and zinc fertilization on performance of pearlmillet under rainfed conditions. Results of two year study showed considerable improvement in growth and productivity of pearlmillet. A long-term field experiment was conducted to design and implement alternative production systems with increased resource use efficiency, productivity and to determine the effect of tillage systems and mineral fertilizers on soil organic carbon patterns. This experiment intended to evaluate the effects of these management strategies on soil structural formation and structural stabilization of a sandy loam soil. The shift from puddled - transplanted rice on the flat land to raised bed systems affects the productivity and resource use efficiency of the rice-wheat system.

An assessment of raised bed sowing of chickpea was done during rabi season in the vertisols of Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh in Central India. The study was conducted for two consecutive years viz. 2014-15 and 2015-16. Chickpea variety JG-63 was considered for the study. Average crop yield under the flat bed planting was observed to be 11.95 q/ha whereas the same under the raised bed planting was 15.15 q/ha.

An assessment of raised bed sowing of pigeon pea was done in the vertisols of Narsinghpur district in Central Narmada Valley Agro-climatic Zone of Madhya Pradesh during the years 2014-15 and 2015-16. Due to the long spell of rains in the district the flat bed sown pigeon pea was not giving good results. As an alternative the raised bed sowing as assessed. Pigeon pea variety TJT 501 was taken for the study. The results were very encouraging. Under the flat bed sowing the crop yield was just 9.75 q/ha which improved to 15.23 q/ha under the raise bed sowing.

The field investigation was carried out at the Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola during Kharif season of 2015-16 on clay loam soil. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with three replications. Field experiments were conducted for two consecutive rabi seasons during 2014-15 and 2015-16 at Norman E. Borlaug Crop Research Centre of G.B. The basal part of the Hüdai Formation (Early Cambrian) in the Aydıncık (Mersin) area comprises red sandstone beds at different stratigraphic levels, showing ripple cross-lamination. These beds were deposited in the middle to lower part of an intertidal flat environment.
