Acantholimon laxiflorum Boiss. ex Bunge (Plumbaginaceae), a local endemic species in Turkey, was subjected to taxonomic analysis in order to clarify its taxonomic status, because this species seems to have been wrongly treated and overlooked since it was first described by Boissier.

he distinguished German botanist Theodor von Heldreich (1822-1902) visited Anatolia on at least 6 separate occasions as documented by specimens cited in Flora of Turkey and Flora Orientalis. His first visit was in 1845 and his last, to İzmir, in 1852.

This first vouchered wild record is confined to Ceylanpınar province in C8 Şanlıurfa. The diagnostic morphological characters discriminating it from of Aegilops crassa Boiss. are pointed out. Notes are presented on its ecology and phenology.

The investigation area is within the C2 grid-square and located within Burdur province. This research was conducted between 1999 and 2002. Nearly 1000 plant specimens were collected and 413 Spermatophyta taxa belonging to 55 families were identified from these specimens. Among the identified taxa, 3 are from Gymnospermae, and 410 from Angiospermae (51 of the Angiospermae are Monocotyledones and 359 are Dicotyledones members). The number of endemic taxa was 83 and this number constitutes 20.1% of the total flora.

In this paper, a lectotype for Arabis deflexa Boiss. is designated, and detailed morphological properties and differences between related taxa and a distribution map are given. Furthermore, an IUCN threat category is proposed.

An Asian species, Sigesbeckia pubescens (Makino) Makino (Compositae), is recorded as an alien for the flora of Turkey. The specimens were collected from A8 Artvin and a distribution map for the species is provided.

Psylliostachys spicata (Plumbaginaceae) is reported as a new genus record for Turkey; an amended species description is given. Bossier’s record of Salvia pratensis (Lamiaceae) in Flora Orientalis is confirmed from Turkey. Additionally, the endemic Salvia ertekinii is reduced to a synonym of Salvia pinnata.
