  • The current research is undertaken by performing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations for a 2D aerofoil fitted with a shock control bump at a transonic flow condition. Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equation coupled with turbulence models is adopted to solve the flowfield. The bump has a conventional geometric feature which consists of a ramp, a crest and a tail, and it has eight variants for which the designed parameters are reasonably specified according to the compressible aerodynamics theory.

  • In supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC), the variation of pressure, temperature and volumetric flowrate is most noticeable when the mobile phase contains only neat carbon dioxide. This can be explained by the compressibility of CO2 and introduces several difficulties to the work of chromatographers. The only flow parameter that is considered to be constant across the SFC system is the mass flow-rate.

  • In this article, we present a numerical Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic (SPH) method. In the SPH method for the Navier – Stokes equations the most widespread method to solve for pressure and mass conservation is the weakly compressible assumption (WCSPH). This article presents two important benchmark problems to validate the algorithm of SPH method. The two benchmark problems chosen are the Lid – driven cavity problem and Poiseuille flow problem at very low Reynolds numbers. The SPH results are also in good agreement with the analytical solution.
