In this study, we compared the pollen quantity, viability and in vitro pollen germination of M1 and M2 type flowers of nine longan genotypes. Acetocarmine, 2, 3, 5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride, 2, 5-diphenyl monotetrazolium bromide and aniline blue-lectophenol staining methods were used for pollen viability assessment while different concentrations of sucrose, boric acid (H3BO3) and agar were used for in vitro pollen germination test through hanging drop technique.

The influence of two factors - "broomrape" and "soil type" on quantities of seven trophic groups of soil microorganisms (Autochthonous; Oligotrophic; Actinomycetes; Microscopic fungi; Ammonifying; Assimilating mineral nitrogen; Aerobic nitrogen-fixing bacteria of the genus Azotobacter) were determined. Soil samples for microbiological analysis were taken from the rhizosphere zone of plants in sunflower crops from two soil types (Haplic Vertisols and Chromic Cambisols), in phenological phases of sunflower and of broomrape - "flowering".

Gladiolus is an important vegetatively propagated ornamental plant cultivated in different parts of the world. The major constrains for production quality and quantity of flowers in gladiolus is due to infection of different viruses. During survey, the gladiolus plants (Ten samples) with mosaic symptoms were collected from different farmer fields in Bangalore rural district and were confirmed for Bean yellow mosaic virus (BYMV) infection by ELISA and PCR using specific primers. Further compete genome of BYMV that infects gladiolus was amplified cloned and sequenced.

The present investigation aimed at evaluating the importance of ca based nutrient sprays viz., the Bio-efficacy of Megacal containing Ca, Mg, K, Zn, Iron and Cu, as organic product. The sprays were used on apple cv. Red Delicious for a period of two years at farmers’ field in district Shopian during 2016 and 2017. Healthy trees of uniform age (20 years) were selected. Cultural practices and plant protection measures were uniform for all the selected trees, irrespective of treatments. On each tree four branches from four sides were marked, for different flower and fruit observation measures.

Marigold organic liquid manure (MOLM) obtained during the processing of marigold flowers was tested in the field with field bean as test crop. Total seven treatments comprising of MOLM mixing with borewell water at different ratios (100:0, 75:25, 50:50 and 25:75 of MOLM: Borewell water) which was compared with the recommended organic liquid manure sources for crop production such as Jeevamrutha @ 2000 L ha-1 and Biodigester liquid @ 3000 L ha-1 .
