Flowers pedicellate

This third recorded yellow-flowered species of the genus is characterized by the absence of stolons, glabrous young leaves, smaller leaves with short petioles, compacted inflorescence with short peduncles, rays and pedicels, white upper lobes of corolla with yellow margin and purple lines throughout, undulate disc-lobes and glabrous ovary. The new taxon is described and illustrated with field photographs of detailed botanical characteristics and assessed as CR following the IUCN Redlist Categories. A key to all yellowflowered Billolivia taxa is provided.

Saxifraga artvinensis V.A.Matthews, which is endemic to Turkey, was discovered on Tiryal Mountain (A8 Artvin, northeastern Turkey). Approximately 175 km from its type locality, a new population of the species was discovered, in the Picea orientalis forest in the Altındere Valley National Park, in A7 Trabzon (northeastern Turkey). A comparison with the known population of S. artvinensis confirmed that this new population represented a new taxon and is described as S. artvinensis subsp. meryemii Terzioğlu & Coşkunç.

In the present study, the components of genetic variation were studied in AN (Arka Nidhi) and SN (Singh Nath) for quantitative characters. The estimates of both additive and dominance components were significant for all the characters except days to 50 per cent flowering, fruit diameter, number of branches per plant and pedicel length. A total of 75 sorghum germplasm lines including 74 Indigenous cultivar (IC) and one Exotic cultivar (EC) were characterized using 27 morphological descriptors provided by PPV & FRA for DUS testing in sorghum. Results revealed that maximum variation was present among genotypes for glume traits viz., colour (6 groups), neck of panicle (5 groups), length for flower with pedicel (5 groups), time of panicle emergence (4 groups), colour of dry anther (4 groups), panicle length of branches (4 groups), panicle shape (4 groups) and caryopsis colour (4 groups).

The present investigation was carried out at Horticultural Research Station, Mandouri, BCKV, Mohanpur, West Bengal, India to study the influence of plant growth regulators on growth, flowering, yield and quality of Hybrid Tea rose cv. Bugatti. Eight genotypes were selected on the basis of performance of diversity for important characters to raise sixteen cross combinations in 4 × 4, line × tester mating design. The ANOVA shows significant difference among all the parents and hybrids. Line × tester genetic components were not found to be significant for plant height, fruit width and number of seeds/fruit.

Minuartia turcica M.Koç (Caryophyllaceae) is described as a new species of sect. Minuartia. The specimens were collected from the village of Yukarıçiftlik in the district of Safranbolu (Karabük Province, Turkey). The new species is similar to Minuartia leucocephaloides, but the differences between the 2 species are discussed in this paper.
