Predicting the macroscopic permeability of porous media is critical in various scientific and engineering applications. This study proposes a novel model that combines Random Forest (RF) and rime-ice (RIME) optimization algorithm, denoted RIME-RF-RIME, to predict permeability based on six key features covering fluid phase dimensions, geometric characteristics, surrounding phase permeability, and media porosity.

Calculating intra-aneurysm flow uses optical flow with computational fluid dynamics simulation on the numerical analysis. This is a new method to better understand the intravascular flow and aneurysm flow as well as factors related to the inflow vortex and the inflow jet which increase the rupture risk in patients with an aneurysm.

In this report, we examine the unsteady Stokes equations with nonhomogeneous boundary conditions. As an application of a Carleman estimate, we first establish log type stabilities for the solution of the equations from either an interior measurement of the velocity, or a boundary observation depending on the trace of the velocity and of the Cauchy stress tensor measurements on a part of the boundary.

This paper describes an investigation of fluid flow through two tandem circular cylinders using Lattice-Boltzmann Method in direct numerical simulation. The diameter ratio of two circular cylinders, D1/D2 varies from 0.5 to 1.5, and spacing ratio (L/D2) varies from 1.5 to 10, whereas the Reynolds number of 100 is considered. The numerical model is well validated by comparing the results with those obtained in the literature.

The increasing use of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) can enable very close vehicle spacings which generally results in a net drag reduction for the resulting convoys. The majority of vehicle development has, to date, been for vehicles in isolation, thus the study of interaction effects is becoming increasingly important. The main objective of this research is to investigate the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for understanding convoy aerodynamics and to further the understanding of airflow interaction between vehicles via CFD.

This study aims to use CFD analysis of CT scan data from the nasal cavities of a range of older Asian males to investigate the impact of geometric variations between older nasal cavities on the airflow structures and airconditioning capacity of the nasal cavity. Air flow mechanisms, heat transfer rates and humidification efficacy are analysed in order to arrive at a more precise understanding of the role of nasal geometry in the presentation of respiratory ailments.

The purpose of this project is to enable the prediction of flow behaviour of concentrated slurries in the pipe loop under various laminar flow conditions using the fluid analogue to slurry and to find the suitable rheological model from the literature for the fluid analogue and tailings from the Sunrise dam. The major objective of the project is to develop a fluid analogue which will have similar rheological behaviour to that of the tailings from Sunrise dam so that it can be used as a test material to predict the flow behaviour of tailings in a pipe.

The objective of this thesis was to investigate the development of a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) which can be implanted in the eye to provide continuous monitoring of glaucoma conditions. Current glaucoma monitoring involves taking laboratory based intra ocular pressure (IOP) measurements. The measurement of intraocular fluid flow and IOP parameters related to blockage formation in the eye require to be continuously monitored in Glaucoma.

This study uncovers a wide range of complex transport dynamics in transiently forced aquifers that has profound implications for the understanding and quantification of solute transport in these important groundwater systems. And the results in this thesis predict that complex transport structures and dynamics arise in natural transiently forced aquifers around the world. When such dynamics do arise, it will lead to mixing and reactive transport patterns that are very different from those predicted by conventional Darcy flow models.

The current research is undertaken by performing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations for a 2D aerofoil fitted with a shock control bump at a transonic flow condition. Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equation coupled with turbulence models is adopted to solve the flowfield. The bump has a conventional geometric feature which consists of a ramp, a crest and a tail, and it has eight variants for which the designed parameters are reasonably specified according to the compressible aerodynamics theory.

: Fluid vents in the Sea of Marmara were discovered and investigated by several studies. In this paper, a numerical model is created for the first time to determine the possible transport mechanism behind those fluid emissions at the seafloor. The finite volume method is used for numerical simulations by implementing a commercial finite volume code, ANSYS-Fluent. The thermal and physical rock properties used in our models are taken from previous studies.

Nowadays, the need for energy is increasing more and more. It is more difficult to acquire new resources in various fields than to preserve existing energy resources. Although Turkey is a very rich state in terms of various energy resources, misuse of these resources can even lead to conflicts that may occur between the states in forthcoming years. In today’s economic conditions, we can only protect our energy resources with the correct way of management.

We study the higher differentiability of stationary solutions up to the flat boundary for a class of systems of fluid mechanics modelling flows of incompressible fluids with shear and pressure dependent viscosity in 2D or 3D. We consider systems which are a kind of generalized Navier-Stokes system where stress tensor T has linear growth in symmetric velocity gradient and dependence of viscosity on the pressure is small with respect to an ellipticity constant.

Flow-induced heat transfer deterioration can be delayed by increasing system pressure or lowering sink temperature. Bulk temperature level throughout the loop with water as working fluid is higher than supercritical carbon dioxide. This is until the heat transfer deterioration, and hence the use of a single-phase loop is prescribed beyond that limit.

The CRA was inserted into the reactor core within a predetermined time limit under normal and abnormal operating conditions, and the CRA (which consists of complex geometric shapes) drop behavior is numerically modeled for simulation.
