Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), an intestinal coronavirus that causes acute diarrhea and high mortality in suckling piglets, can result in high economic losses in the swine industry. In recent years, despite the use of China’s current vaccine immunization strategy, multiple types of PEDV strains were still found in immunized swine herds.

Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) has been an emerging porcine virus spread around the world. The conserved DNA sequence of PCV3 enabled good performance in molecular biological assays. A real-time fluorescence PCR assay has been developed for the detection of PCV3, with high sensitivity and specificity, exhibiting good performance in detecting clinical samples.

In this study, a novel spectrofluorometric assay based on p-cresol (4-methyl phenol) probe is developed for the measurement of HOBr scavenging activity. It is the first study involving the use of a p-cresol probe for the determination of the HOBr scavenging activity of biothiols. While the p-cresol probe (λex = 260 nm, λem = 305 nm) has fluorescence characteristics, its brominated derivatives emerging at the end of the oxidation reaction with HOBr do not show fluorescence.

Nitrogen-doped carbon nanodots (CDs) were prepared via the solvothermal method, using urea and triethylene glycol as the starting materials. The as-prepared CDs had individual diameters of approximately 100 nm and were in clusters of different sizes. The surface composition and optical properties of the as-prepared CDs were characterized. They exhibited multicolor emission properties in the visible range when excited with a wide wavelength range. The aqueous solution of the CDs was used in highly sensitive tartrazine determination.

Regarding the abundant use of metals for different purposes, it becomes more critical from various scientific and technological perspectives to discover novel agents as selective probes for the detection of specific metals. In our previous studies, we have shown that aqueous solutions of natural urolithins (i.e., hydroxyl-substituted benzo[c]chromen-6-one derivatives) are selective Iron (III) sensors in fluorescence assays. In this study, we have extrapolated these findings to another coumarine compound (i.e.

E2F6 is a member of the E2F family of transcription factors involved in regulation of a wide variety of genes through both activation and repression. E2F6 has been reported as overexpressed in breast cancers but whether or not this is important for tumor development is unclear. We first checked E2F6 expression in tumor cDNAs and the protein level in a range of breast cancer cell lines.

In the present study, attempts were made to produce biologically active recombinant mouse hephaestin as a secretory form tagged with green fluorescent protein (GFP), Hpsec-GFP. Plasmid expressing Hpsec-GFP was constructed and transfected into COS and CHO cells. The GFP aided the monitoring expression in real time to select the best conditions to maximise expression and provided a tag for purifying and analysing Hpsec-GFP. The protein had detectable oxidase activity as shown by in-gel and solution-based assays.

The lipid scrambling activity of protein extracts and purified scramblases is typically measured using a fluorescence-based assay. While the assay has yielded insight into the scramblase activity in crude membrane preparations, functional validation of candidate scramblases, stoichiometry of scramblase complexes as well as ATPdependence of flippases, data analysis in its context has remained a task involving many manual steps.

In the conventional broth microdilution assay, the optical density (OD) of drug dilutions, inoculated with microorganisms after sufficient incubation is taken into consideration, which correlates with the most metabolically active cells in the mid log phase of growth. The particles present in the liposomes and other particulate solutions interfere with the OD measurement and produce an erratic result. Resazurin method is more reliable and realistic as it depends on metabolic activity of cells rather than OD of particulate matter present in the samples.

Multiplexed in-situ fluorescent imaging offers several advantages over single-cell assays that do not preserve the spatial characteristics of biological samples. This spatial information, in addition to morphological properties and extensive intracellular or surface marker profiling, comprise promising avenues for rapid advancements in the understanding of disease progression and diagnosis.

Rabies is a highly fatal viral infection of central nervous system affecting all warm blooded animals including humans. The virus belongs to the Rhabdoviridae family, genus Lyssa virus. Several techniques have been standardized internationally for the diagnosis of rabies. This study was designed to assess the efficacy of Seller's staining test (SST) and Direct Fluorescent Antibody Test (dFAT) for diagnosis of rabies antigen, Mouse Innoculation Test (MIT) and real time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) were used as the Gold Standards.

CTCs expressing variable levels of epithelial and mesenchymal markers in breast cancer have previously been reported. However, no information exists for keratin expression levels of CTCs in association with disease status, whereas assays for the characterization of transitional EMT phenotypes of CTCs in breast cancer are rather lacking.

Persistent high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is correlated with an increased risk of developing intraepithelial lesion or malignancy (NILM). The aims of the current study is to establish a method named BioPerfectus Multiplex Real Time (BMRT) HPV assay for simultaneous typing and quantifying HPVs, and to evaluate it by comparison with HPV GenoArray test and PCR-sequencing method, as well as histological status.

Replant disease is a major problem of apple orchards, which is a main cash crop in TransHimalayan region. The cause of this replant problem includes both biotic and abiotic factors, such as low nutrients, phytotoxins, actinomycetes, fungal complexes and nematodes. Fungi and oomycetes belonging to the well-known root rot complex are important factor of replant problems in apple.

Salmonellosis is one of the most common causal food borne disease in India. An in-house loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) reaction was established and evaluated for sensitivity and specificity in detecting the presence of Salmonella spp. isolates in foods of animal origin from Mumbai, India. The aim of this study was to develop in-house LAMP for simple and inexpensive detection of Salmonella spp. in animal origin foods using specifically designed primers targeting invA gene contains sequences unique to this genus. The reaction was optimized using genomic DNA of S.

Prostate Cancer (PCa) is the second most prevalent cancer among U.S. males. In recent decades many men with low risk PCa have been over diagnosed and over treated. Given significant co-morbidities associated with definitive treatments, maximizing patient quality of life while recognizing early signs of aggressive disease is essential.

Objective of the research was to validate the potential of Syzygium aromaticum and Kaempheria galanga against biofilm formation and plasmid borne drug resistance exhibited by Pseudomonas spp. Antimicrobial property of S.aromaticum and K.galanga on P.aeruginosa culture was assessed using the agar well diffusion method. Crystal violet assay was employed to determine the percentage inhibition of P.aeruginosa biofilm by the extracts following generation of biofilm on multiwell plates.
